   The Vail Chophouse used to be a classic high end steakhouse. Now it’s just a sports bar that serves steak. I knew it was dumbed down when the hostess greeted us in a grey sweat suit. Limited steak selection, no baked potatoes or creamed spinach. Food was good and so was the service. But it wasn’t a great dining experience.

   Waiter was helpful with dietary issues. Extremely accommodating. Food was excellent and service was excellent.

   During happy hour, even though we were in the back room, the music was so loud, you could barely hear yourself talk. Go after 6 if you can get a table. Price was high but I had the rib eye at $69 and it was excellent.

   I went to Apre Ski and then had dinner. Always my favorite night when in Vail. Great people, fun time, and always good food.

    The only advantage they have is location as service and the food is not the reason to eat there. After my steak arrived it was garnished with a side of mash potatoes. I realized that it was the wrong steak and the waiter said “opps my bad.” This delayed my dinner as I ate alone as my colleague was already finished. To top it off they did not replace the mash potoates. When the correct steak arrived - it wasnt that good but at this point I did not want to cause a scene. Very unprofessional and dissapointing. Its clear that the quality/service is deteriorating at the Vail Chophouse.
