   Limited menu this evening for New Year’s Eve. Our food was prepared well and tasted good. The crab cake was pretty plain and served without any sauces. Still good, just not very interesting. The filet was cooked perfectly and was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Potatoes were cooked OK but rather plain and again not very interesting. Overall the food did still taste good and the service was great.

   We went for an early dinner on New Year’s afternoon. They gave us the NYE menu and it was outstanding. The sea bass was succulent and moist and tender- also plentiful. The rack of lamb done to medium rare perfection and the prime rib was tender and done just right. We started with the oysters Rockefeller were large and plumb and perfectly seasoned. All of the accompaniments were equally tasty. Our compliments to the chef. He is a keeper. Kelly our server was also excellent. She was pleasant and efficient without hovering. The manager was also attentive and friendly. All in all, a great way to start 2025

   Disappointing Experience We had high hopes for Towson Tavern, but our visit fell short. We ordered a crabcake as an appetizer, not realizing it would be served as a full meal. This should have been explained by the staff, especially since the single crabcake looked lost on a plate full of French fries. Unfortunately, we had all ordered French fries with our meals, so we would have made different choices had we known. For dinner, we had two steaks and a hamburger. One of the steaks—a filet ordered medium—was served well done. After notifying the manager, they took it back to be re-cooked. Unfortunately, when it returned, the steak was raw and had to be sent back again. By the time it finally came out properly cooked, the rest of our party had already finished their meals, which really soured the evening. What made the experience worse was the lack of any effort to remedy the situation. When a meal is served incorrectly twice, especially at a restaurant of this caliber, we would expect more than just an apology. The staff should have offered something to make up for the inconvenience, such as a complimentary dessert, an appetizer, or even a discount on the bill. Offering a discounted meal for a return visit would have also been a thoughtful gesture. Sadly, none of this was done, and the apology alone didn’t feel sufficient to compensate for the disruption. What should have been a pleasant evening turned into a frustrating one. For a restaurant with such a reputation, we expected far better service and attention to detail.

   We were a party of 5 for dinner on a Saturday night. Our waitress was very pleasant and explaned that there is a new menu. Everyone seemed pleased with their food orders. I ordered one of the new menu items, braised short ribs. It was delicious! The meat was extremely tender and the sides complemented it well. Our table requested seperate checks and there was one small mix up. It was quickly corrected to our satisfaction. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

   Service from Spike was great and the atmosphere was good. The food was very underwhelming and overpriced. We really want to support this restaurant as we always have great food at the Rec Room but their expertise in barroom fair does not translate to the higher end dining experience they seem to be attempting in the Tavern.

   Had a lovely dinner at this quaint spot. Waiter did a great job of checking with the kitchen to assure that my meal could be prepared gluten free.
