The food was tired and unimaginative. Pork belly not crunchy and tough. Appetizer was like melted cheese on a hamburger bun. The baguette seemed old . Great service. Good cocktail.

Sow is almost always a very good experience. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and the food is consistently good. Parking a bit of a pain if crowded is the only downside.

Thank you for your review, Chris! Feedback like this is what keeps us working hard here. I'm so sorry about the parking. Being that we have such a small parking lot, we are trying to cut down on people who are not Salty Sow guests using our lot. It's why we implemented the cameras in the parking lot. Hopefully, we will see that work soon, and that will free up spots for actual Salty Sow guests. Thank you again! We look forward to your next visit. - Grace, GM

Fantastic dinner here. Parking available, promptly greeted and seated; our waiter was excellent, made sure we were aware of HH specials and cut-off for ordering from that menu. Both apps we ordered were great, as was the Redfish Anna with lump crab. The fish was a pricey fish but the portion size and quality of the fish, crab and delicious sauce made it more than worthwhile. Highly recommend!!

Thank you so much, Marilyn! The Texas Redfish Anna is actually one of our newer menu items, so I'm happy to see that guests are enjoying it. We look forward to your next visit. - Grace, GM

Excellent food and will be back. Service was somewhat slow on drink reorders. I’m assuming they only had one bartender making drinks which were given to servers to deliver to tables.
The Salty SowResponded 1 day ago
Thank you for your feedback, Trent! I'm glad you enjoyed your meal. I believe there was only one bartender the night you visited. I'll look into what was happening that night and discuss with my team. I really appreciate your sharing your experience. It helps us as a restaurant and team. - Grace GM

We usually come on Thursday before our Broadway in Austin shows, but the event at Bass was on Saturday this time. It was more crowded & noisy and the service was not quite as attentive on Sat, but the food was still great!

Salty Sow is reliably very good! I love going during Happy Hour and sharing their signature Duck Fat Fries, which are always more decadent than anyone ever expects. The Chicken Liver Mousse and Smoked Fish Rillette are other HH shareable staples that never fail to delight. The Rpasted Organic Beet salad is the best version in the city - a simple earthy acidic dish spiked with crumbles of sweet pistachio brittle and drops of honey-whipped goat cheese. People can argue that the namesake pork belly is the best main, but they’re sleeping on the low-key easiest win. The Crispy Chicken Thighs - boneless, tender, and juicy - come perched atop bigger better versions of home fries, sitting like islands in the most delicious sea of gravy. This dish may not have a fancy name, exotic ingredients. or seem like something special enough for a meal you’ve reserved to enjoy with friends. It does, however, show off the consistent execution of Salty Sow’s kitchen staff, while telling the tale of why this joint has survived the ups and downs of Austin’s restaurant scene for over a dozen years and counting.

The Redfish Anna was a delight. The portion was well sized. I ended up over-stuffing myself on the Bananas Foster, as there were only two of us but it's built for three.

Thank you, John! I appreciate you joining us for dinner, and don't worry, we always have plenty of to go boxes if you find yourself too full. - Grace, GM
