The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu!     This is the second time I have celebrated at The Assembly House for another birthday. This time, it didn't disappoint. Unfortunately, we were 40 minutes late (which i did call to update them), but they were so accommodating and welcoming. The only thing I would say is this time we were situated in a smaller room (in the bigger room previously). Even though it's still beautifully decorated, the atmosphere is not so relaxing. The young lady who waited on us was very happy, polite, and kept asking us if we would like more tea, sandwiches, or anything else. The most wonderful thing is that we could have a vegan afternoon tea. I could not have asked for more. Sandwiches were fresh with delicious fillings, and other vegan savoury items were wonderful, too... The CAKES, even though they are mini, they were so fresh, delicious taste, and the extra touch of little decorations made it feel extra special!!! I am hoping that I might get another afternoon experience this year 🙏. Thank you so much 💓

    Lovely themed Peter pan afternoon tea. Food absolutely gorgeous, staff tendered to our every need, with excellent professional service. Will definitely be back. Well recommended it was such a lovely time had by all of us.

    Loved the Peter Pan theme and the individual items, just the right size, although we still needed a 'doggy bag'. Ordered a hot chocolate (beautiful) and milkshake (perhaps rather too much cream?) as extra. Pots of tea were just right. Very good service.

    We arrived at a warm welcome, seated straight away which was lovely as we were 25 minutes early and the team was so nice and accommodating. It was my sister's Birthday and they surprised her with a candle inside a little cake. The room we were seated in was lovely and packed not chaotic or overwhelming however there wasn't any background ambience like music, although there were several empty pianos in the room. We will 100% be back again when we travel down south.
