Christmas Eve is dinner will be a curated $92/per person prix fixe. Large parties of 6+ will be invited to our family friendly, buffet-style seating. Parties of 1-5 will be served a la carte in our main dining rooms.

Since our early days as a tea room, we’ve been a respite for locals and visitors alike, offering a haven for conversation and memorable cuisine. The tradition continues as our culinary team has curated an inventive and elevated menu through New American cuisine while paying homage to the beloved dishes that have been served at the Tabard Inn for years. A DC institution since 1922, we look forward to offering our guests all the comforts of a home away from home.

Executive Chef Matthew Zafrir came to the Tabard in 2023, bringing with him experience from various fine dining restaurants around D.C. such as minibar by José Andrés, Cranes, Revelers Hour.

Service was great but the food was mediocre at best and way too expensive for the quality of the dishes. Will not be going back there again.

Love the Tabard Inn and have had wonderful meals in the past. Yesterday we had dinner and while the soup and salad were good, the entree of skirt steak was not good. Meat was tough and there was no sauce on it to help. Greens under steak were also chewy and difficult to eat. Love the lounge area before meal.

It’s a lovely place for a special dinner. The food is very good and the service is outstanding. It was our anniversary and we got a special drink and a sample dessert on the house. Very nice touch. Recommended.

We had a fabulous night celebrating the season with friends. We started with drinks in the “living room” then upstairs for dinner. We found a great wine - a French Bordeaux- that worked with everyone’s dinner selection. The he timing was perfect, food delicious and great atmosphere as usual.

We’re always well taken care of at the Tabard Inn! An institution, it’s comforting to know we can always come for a good meal and great service, regardless of the constant changes in DC.

We have been coming to the Tabard Inn for over forty years. I made a reservation far in advance for dinner last night. This is a special occasion every year when we come from North Carolina to Washington for the holidays. When we got to the restaurant we were told that there was a special event and we would not be seated in the restaurant. Instead, tables were set up in the corners of the lounge area, which was hot and a completely different experience. Don’t get me wrong, the food was very good. But I love the atmosphere in the restaurant, which is a part of the experience. This may be a minority view, but I think a restaurant should let you know in advance if there is a change that will be a much different experience than the one you reasonably expected. They contacted me multiple times, like most restaurants do now days, to insure that I was coming. If I had known that we wouldn’t be seated in the restaurant, I would have made other plans. Notwithstanding the good food, the change made for a disappointing experience rather than the special one I had been expecting.

We had breakfast at the Tabard Inn because it looked like a unique hotel that I wanted to check out, and it was within walking distance from where I was staying. The hotel was charming and unique in its eclectic furnishings. The dining room was quiet. The breakfast was almost half what I paid at the Jefferson Hotel the day before and twice as good. I had eggs over easy. I asked for my bacon well done. It was cooked to perfection and one of the best orders of bacon I ever had. The biscuit and hash browns, which were more like roasted potatoes, were delicious. The service was attentive but not overbearing. I would return the next time I'm in DC.

The Tabard Inn has an interesting menu with a variety of tempting choices. The oysters today were fresh and very tasty. I had a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. The salad was fresh and perfectly dressed and the shrimp was nice grilled without be overcooked.
