Sansei, meaning third generation, is a locally owned contemporary Japanese Restaurant offering new wave sushi. The force behind the food is Chef/Owner Dave "DK" Kodama. An Oahu native, he is fearless when it comes to flavors and one of the most adventurous chefs you will meet. At Sansei, he has combined his Japanese heritage with Hawai'i's incredible ethnic mix and the flavors he experienced in his travels to create a New Wave Sushi, Japanese-inspired Pacific Rim, Contemporary Japanese type of cuisine. Call it whatever you like. What you will taste are unique combinations of flavors and textures.

Enjoyed a great meal at Sansei. Their dining room has improved since the last time I had dinner there. The white table cloths and all same level seating has made the experience more enjoyable. Fairly quiet during our experience, but it wasn’t too busy at that time on a Wednesday evening either. I highly recommend the crab ramen. A large dish for one, and easy to share for 2-3.

GOOD restaurant here. But the meal was limlted fish menu, we cannot get tempra etc. which is Japanese food as same as in Maui. The others were perfect!!

One of a better seafood/steak restaurant in Waikiki. Their food is good and service is excellent for any occasion. The restaurant needs an upgrade on its ambiance. It’s the same as it was 20 years ago and I think a renovation and better seating layout is needed. They used to have good live entertainment there but we didn’t see that when we were there. Music is always a good part of the dinning experience.

Always a great experience when I eat here. We enjoyed our food, the waiter and the view. We ordered the norm Crab ramen and the salmon it was delicious.

Came here to celebrate a birthday night. The miso soup was oversalted, there was a piece of plastic tag in one of our rolls. Not a great experience. The only saving grace was our server Kai, who was attentive and caring to the issues. He was the only thing that was good about this experience. Would not return.

Had a wonderful experience. Hostess & waitress helped us to sort out lost parking ticket. So we could enjoy our meal.

Awful experience. Restaurant is in need of some help, it has lost its way. Rolls were not good, restaurant was less than clean, and experience felt like something has gone terribly wrong here. Just go elsewhere.
