This restaurant never disappoints. I hesitate to write a glowing review for fear we’ll never get a table again. It’s always been packed lately. But that would not be fair to the owners and the staff, especially the chef who consistently turns out dishes like the ones we ate this evening, delectable scallops and a thick pork chop, both juicy and tender. I’d like to try the other salads, but might never because the blue cheese salad is just that good.

Reid’s Cafe is located in beautiful Sugar Mountain, NC. We love the intentional, the specific, and the well-cared-for. We work closely with our local farms and purveyors to curate fresh, seasonal menus that feature regionally sourced meats, a rotation of fresh oysters and select seafood. All of our breads, pastas, and pastries are prepared in-house daily. Our Bar offers local beers, seasonal craft cocktails, and a well chosen wine selection. We are currently operating under all Covid-19 restrictions and following all CDC and local guidelines. The health and safety of our guests and our staff is our #1 priority. In 2020 the legacy was passed to Chambli Stuber and Emily Lamar, who continue to honor its tradition and role in the community, celebrating over two decades of service. Situated in historic Saluda, The Purple Onion boasts outdoor dining and live music on Thursday and Saturday nights. The Purple Onion features a variety of ethnically inspired dishes with an emphasis on the Mediterranean’s simple and healthy cuisine. No one does the tandoor as good us and our awards are testimony to that.

Absolutely outstanding. Service was great. Food was prepared and presented beautifully. A great experience all around. I highly recommend. Cocktails were great. Wine list was on the smaller side but the staff understood the wines and made sure we had the proper selections to optimally enjoy our entrees. Desserts are out of this world. We had a medium size group and were the last patrons on a Tuesday night. Staff was kind and professional right up to the end. This place has no equal in Western North Carolina, truly a hidden gem in Hendersonville and well worth the trip.

This place always delivers consistent good southern food with a local twist. Highly recommend trying the fried pickles. Waitstaff are attentive. If you do want to come for brunch come early, just makes for a better experience. It does tend to get crowded as the day goes on.
