Hollywood
About the restaurant
Marino Ristorante is deeply rooted in Hollywood since the late 1950’s when Ciro (Mario to friends) Marino landed in Hollywood and has ever since had generations of who’s who in the movie, record, art, political and business LA community at his tables. Today it is still family owned and given its warm welcome flavor by the second generation of Marinos, Mario in the dining room and brother Sal in the kitchen.

The decor is modern and comfortable with memorabilia from a 60 year career which all come together to create its appeal. Described by many marrying the quintessential NY Italian in Los Angeles for its history coupled with today’s seasonal menu, highlighting the best locally sourced ingredients and top notch freshest seafood available.

Dinners at Marino are always delicious, whether I am in the mood for Italian classics or Chef Sal Marino’s innovative modern Italian food. Special menu nights like summertime Tomato Wednesdays and the annual Christmas Eve Feast of the 7 Fishes are not to be missed. Mario Marino greets guests warmly and makes sure that service is tops. And the wine list is huge with many hard to find Italian bottles as well as more well-known favorites.

Here at Shokunin we serve traditional omakase styled courses.
Omakase is a Japanese phrase that means "I'll leave it up to you”. The chef chooses the fresh fish selection daily and garnishes it into a 11 or 13 course meal. Our mission is to deliver a fine dining experience in a casual environment all at an affordable price.

As a disclaimer, we do not sell any rolls that are baked, fried, or contain eel sauce or spicy mayo. We also do not sell any kitchen items, such as teriyaki bowls.

I’ve been here many times and it’s always a lovely experience. The people who work here are so kind and accommodating, the food is always delicious, and the vibes are welcoming and peaceful. The brunch is great, I eat mostly raw foods and love their kale colossus salad and raw tacos as well as their wide range of raw desserts and smoothies. The friends and family I usually come with have yet to order anything they don’t like, but the Mac and Cheese, classic nachos, and lasagna tend to be the most popular (I really think you can’t go wrong though).

Beverly / Fairfax / La Brea / Third St.
About the restaurant
One of LA’s best Italian restaurants, Locanda Veneta aims to transport you to Venice, Italy. Where the freshest and often deceptively simplest ingredients are combined and cooked into art. The cozy room, often dotted with celebs, is elegant but there’s nothing fussy about the menu. Here you’ll find favorites such as a fresh-vegetable minestrone; wild mushroom risotto; and spinach and ricotta cheese gnocchi. Garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil dress many of the pasta, meat and fish dishes; and the veal scaloppini gets a different preparation every night. When an Italian spot is as classic as this, how can you skip a dessert of tiramisu? Our extensive wine list complements your meal, with selections mainly from Italy, France and California.

The restaurant was recommended to us and we weren’t sure what to expect. The restaurant had an older vibe to it, it sure if it really was an older place or that was just the decor and look they were going for…old world Italian. The service was excellent and the food…phenomenal! We had the CAPPELLACCI AL MANZO STUFATO (shirt rib ravioli), PAPPARDELLE AL FILETTO (beef tenderloin pasta), and the LINGUINI AL FRUTTI DI MARE (in a white wine sauce). Everything was delicious and the portion size was more than expected! We enjoyed some great glasses of wine as well. We left the restaurant fully satisfied and partially in a food coma :) Highly recommend Locanda Venta if you are looking for authentic, delicious and high quality Italian food.
