Bar Chelou is a neo-bistro that is both a distillation of Chef Doug Rankin's broad gastronomic interests and a deeply personal expression of his individualistic style.

'Chelou' (French slang for ‘strange’ or ‘unexpected’) is both the name and unifying theme of the restaurant, which draws from a range of culinary traditions and service styles to create something personal, novel, and fun.

The restaurant is located within the Pasadena Playhouse complex. If you plan to visit the Playhouse after dinner, please book a 5:30p reservation to ensure ample timing for your dinner. We also offer concession cocktails before a showing and during intermission.

Gale's Restaurant is a totally local Pasadena spot for delicious Northern Italian fare, tucked away from the tourist chains in Old Town. The patio near the fountain is a great place to dine. On Friday’s there is a wonderful Spanish guitarist that turns a very nice experience into a wonderful one. Roberto our waiter is professional and has been there since it originally opened. He suggested a great bottle of wine to go with the melt in your mouth honey basted braised short rib that is served on lentils. Mushroom appetizer, artichoke appetizer and croquettes were all very good. Most unique restaurant in Montrose.

This place is perfect for an afternoon tea date with friends or a loved ones. The decorations are adorable and all the items for sale in the shop are great! The tea and the food is so delicious and just all in all a wonderful experience. Definitely will be coming back

Beautiful venue and wonderful ambiance, but the Christmas tea was a joke especially for the amount you pay. I could have gone to much cheaper tea rooms and get way more food and more bang for my buck. For $180 the plate of food served was an abomination.

The bathroom situation needs to be corrected. Disabled people like my friend, cannot walk over down stairs around the corner to the bathroom or go down steps to the elevator for upstairs. There was a homeless person in the outside bathroom who pooped all over the floor. I had to get someone to clean it. They need a restroom IN the restaurant- I won’t go back for that reason. It costs about $20k to put in a bathroom.

It all started back in 1923 in a small storefront in downtown Los Angeles. 95 years later and 5 generations later El Cholo has become synonymous with Mexican food all over Southern California.

Our Pasadena venue opened in 2000 and is at the Paseo Mall within walking distance of the Civic Auditorium and Convention Center, overlooking Colorado Blvd.
The menu consists of classics dating back to the original menu along with an array of more modern dishes showcasing the different regions of Mexico.

Four private rooms that can accommodate parties from 40-100 that allows our valued guest a memorable experience no matter the occasion.

Most famously known for our Margaritas and a menu featuring over 150 Tequilas. Both of our bars offer a comfortable environment allowing our guest to relax enjoy their experience.
