Solanche, Richard, and the team at The Royal Oak are proud to offer Michelin-starred dining at our village pub, between Shipston on Stour and Stratford upon Avon, on the edge of the Cotswolds. Since 2019, we’ve been dedicated to exceptional food in a community-focused setting.

Alongside our Michelin-starred dining room, we have a relaxed bar with a pool table and darts, creating a space for everyone. Our menu celebrates terroir-driven, ‘proper country food,’ focusing on wild, seasonal ingredients. Our aim is simple: to tell the story of our community and the local producers we work with.

The menu changes with the seasons, with some dishes lasting six weeks to highlight the peak of their season, while others may be available for just a week or even a single service—a fleeting, micro-seasonal snapshot. We have been to Baser many times, this time it was a Xmas menu which was over the moon, every dish was perfect. We are Spanish and I have no doubt to say that this is without any doubt one of the best restaurants I have been to. Never, ever disappoints us. Bravo to all the team!

Our menu is based on the principles of Royal Thai Cuisine but with a simple presentation and a strong emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients that give exceptional taste. We also follow the traditions of the best Thai restaurants of Bangkok, with à la minute preparations that allow our chefs to maximize the aromatic qualities of fresh Thai herbs and spices.

We serve food from midday, along with a carefully chosen wine list, beers and spirits.
In addition to A La Carte menu every day, we offer lunch box dishes, which are smaller portions of our favorites, served in a wooden ‘lunch box‘ daily 12-2:30 pm (excluding Sundays)

The restaurant is also an Art Gallery setting which is always evolving as the artworks are sold and replaced with new pieces. Our entire art collection is modern, fun and curated.

We had a lovely meal on Saturday night. 2 of us dined off the Christmas menu which was lovely, and 1 off three usual menu. The food was all really good. One of the starters hadn’t been heated proper,yet but this was dealt with quickly. Great atmosphere too.

We open 7 days a week, have a great selection of beer, ales, ciders and wines and serve delicious from 12pm daily. As usual the food was lovely and plentiful. One small personal issue is the chicken lacked some flavour and held oil and ribs could have been cooked for longer. My partners mixed grill was cooked as asked and fat removed from meats as requested. There was plenty there

Although we enjoyed the festive meal we had this lunchtime we didn't think it was as good as the same meal last year. The use of turkey roll instead of sliced breast was disappointing, as was the lack of a Santa hat each and crackers like last time. A pity.
