Blending classic techniques with adventurous Pacific Rim flavors, culinary pioneer Roy Yamaguchi created an entirely new approach to fine dining. The first Roy's opened in Honolulu in 1988 and we've spread our warm hospitality and passion for innovative and creative cuisine around the world ever since. Indulge in one of our spectacular cocktails or choose a glass from our award-winning wine list while you discover the fresh ingredients and outstanding seafood, expertly prepared by our local chefs that made us famous. We invite you to join us at Roy's Downtown San Diego located on the water at the Marriott Hotel and Marina, featuring a dining room overlooking the marina, or patio dining just steps from the water.

The empty inside restaurant on a Saturday night should have been a clue but we have eaten at Roy’s many times. We ordered an appetizer that never came out. I ordered the signature butterfish entree and it came out within 5 minutes of ordering and was the very “fishy”tasting as if on the verge of being bad. My wife’s dish was much of the same. I left cash for my glass of wine and we left. So sad. Roy’s has been a favorite for many years but I won’t be back.

The service was subpar and the noise was way too loud for a business meeting.

We seated at 12:30 with a reservation. We got a water and proceeded to order over the next 10 minutes and sat for the next hour with no food whatsoever. Finally at 1:30 we had to get up and leave as we had a meeting to go to. They were shortstaffed, obviously in both the white staff and in the kitchen. The waitress apologize it wasn’t her fault. As we were leaving, she stated our food was up and they boxed up a few items for us to take with us at no cost. Very frustrating lunch !!!

Our server Chris was the best! We enjoyed our dinner here and can't wait to come back again soon. We sat on the patio and they kept the heaters on the patio nice and toasty. We ordered the Poke appetizer, the shrimp tempura appetizer, and the Ebi roll, everything was so good. Great service!
