Zio Peppe is where tradition meets innovation, serious collides with playful, and gourmet converges with casual. Zio Peppe means “Uncle Joe’ in Italian, and just like a beloved “funcle” – a fun uncle, Zio Peppe will make sure all are welcome, and everybody is having a good time.

Zio Peppe is a collaboration between Chef Devon Sanner and Chef Mat Cable. Our menu is anchored in Italian-American classics of pizza and pasta, but draws heavy influence from the foods and flavor profiles of Tucson and the Sonoran region.

Sanner joins forces with Cable after having cooked under Tucson culinary legend Janos Wilder for the past 15 years, serving as chef at Janos, JBAR, Downtown + Cocktails, and The Carriage House.

Zio Peppe, which means “Uncle Joe” in Italian, is in part a tribute to Cable’s uncle, Joe Sottosanti, who opened Tucson’s first Sicilian pizza place, Tesseo’s Pizzeria, nearly 50 years ago.

Great little place ! Interesting menu items -blend of Italian and Southwest. Had some great pasta and pizza Parking is a little funky - but don't get turned off by that. Try it -- I am sure you will like.

Very busy between 5-7:30pm. Service was slow. The appetizer was good, the Caesar salad was not good. No flavor, no lemon or garlic taste at all. The croutons were dripping with oil. The beef shank was delicious. Friendly service staff.

Food and service were great. 2 items I didn’t like - split charge on a salad - credit card fee. Used to be a cost of doing business. Would’ve been a5 without those.

We made reservations for 730. When we got there, we told the hostess of the reservation. She acted surprised. 45 minutes later, we were finally seated. After waiting 10 minutes without being approached by a waiter, I asked if we had a waiter. 10 more minutes with went by without any contact, and we all got up and left. Staff seemed completely clueless and they weren’t ready for a party of six at 7:30 on New Year’s Eve.

Food was horrible I had Pizza I would think that in Italian restaurant wake up the pizza to perfection we didn’t go to my table it was cold
