We’ve been going to Wash Park Grille for 25 years and had a very sub-par experience last night. They were out of the Pinot Noir we wanted, then burbon, then lobster. We got no explanation as to why. When I ordered my entree, I asked the waitress to go light on the goat cheese and she said they hardly put any on. When my entree arrived, there was way too much goat cheese on and I just choked the meal down. So disappointing. We won’t go back.

We wanted to treat our wonderful elderly neighbor to a nice meal at a nice restaurant and initially looked at Shanahan’s but opted for something more down to earth. We had had a nice meal a couple years ago at the Washington Park Grill so decided to go to WPG. After being greeted by the waiter, we were told several items on the menu were not available, and that the red wine was being brought up from the seller and would need some time before it was ready to serve. We finally ordered, and upon receiving our meals, left disappointed. The quality did not seem to be worth the price. The ribeye steak seemed thin and chewy, a pasta dish with shrimp contained mini shrimp rather than a few large shrimp and in general, nothing was considered even as good as we could make it home. The waiter was lax as well, and never asked how our food was, offered a second round of drinks, and our check was dropped at the table without an offer for dessert. We didn’t want to complain in front of our neighbor who ate most of her meal but my wife told me afterwards that she would’ve sent her meal back had we we not had company with us. This was our last meal at the Washington Park Grill.

Wash Park Grille is going down fast. The wine list is kaput - one glass of Merlot was all that was available - probably because the owner can't pay his suppliers. No tuna, the calamari and artichoke appetizer was more arugula than artichokes and calamari, and the dinner salad (with chicken instead of tuna) was mostly mixed greens drenched in dressing. This used to be one of our favorites, but since it was seized for back taxes by the city, it has really deteriorate. The owner can't even pay his servers, who now depend solely on tips. VERY SAD!!

I cannot recommend this place. I've been a Denver resident for 30 years and we used to come here many years ago for brunch, especially after running in Wash Park and it used to be a really nice place, warm and friendly. A neighborhood "joint". Went recently - restaurant was empty. Not really a good sign. A booth was available in the empty restaurant and we asked if we could sit there, to which our hostess replied "I guess so." I'm sorry, am I putting you out by asking for a booth? After we had our meal (food was meh) I paid the bill and noticed a charge which was explained to me by a second rude hostess that it's a "kitchen fee" - well according to Denver law the restaurant must post this charge, and when I explained that, the hostess continued, "The owner knows, he just doesn't care." I asked if I could talk to him - she replied well he's next door in our sister restaurant, drinking. His name is Jeff." I did not see the interaction resulting in a positive experience, given everything so I just left. Food was passable but uninspiring ... nothing to write home about, so I'm not going to even comment on itIf you decide to eat here, just know you'll be subject to the "kitchen fee" even though it is not posted in the restaurant, or on the menu, or identified by the server.

Service starts out great then once your meal arrives, people seem to vanish until it's time to pay the bill. This is consistant with my last visit. The food is good but not exceptional. Truly a venue for locals and a little disapponting if you have out of town guests and wanted to dazzle them.

The food was just fine. The experience from the staff was a bit disappointing Someone two tables away had a serious medical incident. While the customer was on the ground, other patrons checked on this person and called emergency services. The wait staff, possibly in shock, seemed to either ignore the situation, laugh (!) about it, or were so upset they didn’t ask how any of the surrounding tables were doing and if we needed anything. A surprising lack of empathy for the situation experienced by the family of the person experiencing the incident, and the people who witnessed it.

The appetizer took an hour to finally get to us after multiple interventions by server. Then, it took a long time to get entrees. All arrived cold. We were compensated the appetizer and a round of drinks, but disappointing. Long been happy here and it was Christmas Eve, but a big culinary letdown last night.

They had a special Christmas Eve menu that wasn’t published on social media or the web. Good food and experience overall.
