A Hidden Gem That Exceeds Every Expectation
As someone who has worked in the food and beverage industry for over 20 years, I’ve developed a pretty high bar when it comes to service, atmosphere, and quality—but Lechuza completely blew me away.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. The property is absolutely breathtaking—peaceful, thoughtfully designed, and surrounded by the kind of natural beauty that makes you want to stay for hours. Our server, Rox, was warm, knowledgeable, and truly elevated the entire experience with her passion and hospitality. It’s rare to find someone so genuine and attentive; she made our visit feel personalized and unforgettable.
And then there’s the wine. Every single bottle we tasted was outstanding. Our favorites were the Pluma and Amantes—both stunning in their own ways—but the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were equally impressive. Each wine is clearly crafted with care and intention, and it shows in the complexity and balance of every sip.
The food was just as memorable. The empanadas were perfectly flaky and flavorful, the french fries were addictively crispy and well-seasoned, and the tacos. Fresh, bold, and beautifully done. It’s the kind of menu that pairs effortlessly with the wines and keeps you lingering at the table just a little longer.
Lechuza is the kind of place that reminds you why you fell in love with wine in the first place. There’s nothing I would change. Whether you’re a seasoned sommelier or just someone who appreciates great wine in a beautiful setting, this place is a must-visit. I can’t recommend it enough.

Questionable viticulture and winemaking practice resulting in terrible wines.

La línea de vino de la degustación fue como siempre genial. El servicio bueno y el lugar muy a gusto, sin ser rimbombante, más rústico, pero muy agradable.

This is a beautiful vinery with a delicious selection of red and white varieties! We had an amazing time doing two different tastings there and all the wines were fantastic! We ended up buying a few bottles to take home :D Armando was very welcoming and he gave us great recommendations of places to visit in the Valle!
Will definitely come here again on our next trip.

If you consider yourself Black or African American the owner DOES NOT want you here!
This was the worst winery experience of my week in Valle de Guadalupe! The gentleman who served us was great, however the owner made it abundantly clear she was not interested in having black guests in her establishment. Every table of guests was greeted by the owner except our table. In fact, the owner came to our table to grab two bottles of wine and did not speak a single word! She followed it up by hugging our tour guide right in front of us and didn’t take even a second to look our way or greet us. At first I wondered if we were being overly sensitive, but it was very clear to both of us and our tour guide that it was “strange” we were the only table she did not engage with! I can’t say the wines were horrible, but if you care at all about everyone being able to engage in an experience with the same common courtesies regardless of background or race then this winery is not the one to support. And if you are black, I reiterate my original statement…THEY DON’T WANT YOU HERE!!

Dear Damian,
I sincerely appreciate your feedback and am truly sorry that you left our tasting room feeling unwelcome. That was never my intention. I strive to provide every guest with a warm and attentive experience, and I regret that I was unable to connect with you as I would have liked during your visit.
That day, I was balancing multiple responsibilities, including attending to a private group and greeting our regular guests. However, I understand that my actions may not have conveyed the hospitality I aim for, and for that, I deeply apologize. Your experience matters to me, and I would love the opportunity to personally welcome you back and ensure you feel valued and appreciated.
Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss this further—I’d love to make it right.
Kristin
