After moving to the neighborhood three months ago, we were excited to try Vicino. The restaurant is charming, with beautiful design, a cozy ambiance, and just the right noise level for conversation. The vodka martini was excellent—extra dry with blue cheese olives, served in a French martini glass. The bread and olive oil (at an extra charge) came with some of the best olives we’ve ever had. Katie, our server, was delightful and attentive. The calamari fritti was another standout—perfectly cooked with two delicious dipping sauces: marinara and lemon dill aioli. Unfortunately, the service and timing marred the experience. My Caesar salad was brought out before the appetizers, which I sent back. We then waited nearly 50 minutes for the calamari, prompting the manager to apologize and explain that the fryer oil was being changed. While we appreciated the explanation, waiting that long for an appetizer was frustrating, and recommending another option would have been appreciated. When my salad returned, it was limp and wilted—clearly the same one brought earlier and left sitting. It was inedible. Though they didn’t charge us for the salad or calamari, the missteps left a sour impression. The main dishes were equally disappointing. The lamb ragu was more like a stew, with a thick, brown consistency that filled the bowl. While flavorful and generously portioned with lamb, the presentation was unappealing. My partner’s pizza had decent toppings but a dense, flatbread-like crust that lacked freshness. Adding to the disappointment, staff mentioned the chef was off that night, which felt like an excuse. With better service and attention to detail, Vicino could shine. For now, the charming atmosphere and a few standout items weren’t enough to offset the many misses. Sadly, we walked away giving it a 3.5/10 and aren’t likely to return.

We started with a delicious glass of red wine and shared a Cesar salad. It was fresh with very crisp lettuce. I ordered a bowl of soup and the Italian grilled cheese. Hubby ordered the traditional spaghetti with meatballs. He lived it! I tried it, but it was too spicy for my liking. We boxed up 1/2 sandwich and most of the fries to go. Split a tiramisu for dessert. It arrived with what looked like caviar on top. We were told it was “chocolate cavier.” Tasted like chocolate tapioca pearls. Tiramisu was delish!

Calamari was great, mushroom risotto was the bomb and both our chicken pizza and the lasagna were good. 1st time in and Dakota was a great great server.

Chicken masala overcooked and dry. Spaghetti side all clumped together. Thought they were potatoes at first. Scallops mediocre. Pesto pasta was very good. Surprise charge of $2 for a larger ice cube in cocktail. Much better options for Italian food.

The foos was just ok. I got the chicken Gnocchi and thought the price was high for what it was. The cocktails some kind of strawberry drink was ok. the best part was a tiramisu. It was delicious! It is a loud restaurant! Server was fine.
