The Union Oyster House, located on the Freedom Trail, near Faneuil Hall, enjoys the unique distinction of being America's oldest restaurant. This Boston fixture, housed in a building dating back to Pre-Revolutionary days, started serving food in 1826 and has continued ever since with the stalls and oyster bar, where Daniel Webster was a constant customer, in their original positions.

The food was meh at best. The oysters were good but took a long time to come. No mignonette sauce. The stuffies were mostly bread and little clams. The Lazy man lobster tasted old and tired. Service was unimpressive. Nice enough guy but clearly inexperienced and untrained. I think this place is living on tourist trade and reputation. Should be much better at these prices. Legal Seafood is a lot better.

It’s okay. Historic building worth checking out for an app/clam chowder and a drink. I think you can skip actually dining here.

Food was outstanding and we had good service. It could have been a little faster, but in all fairness they were packed and our server was super kind and funny. Some of the best lobster and chowder I’ve had.

This place is a must see while in Boston. The front door staff is rude, but the rest of the experience was lovely. The bartender, the server, the food and atmosphere were fantastic.
