2024: awarded 2 Michelin stars!

Trivet derives from the age-old cooking utensil - an iron tripod placed over fire to support a cooking pot or kettle - reflecting the warmth and balance which forms Head Chef Jonny Lake and Master Sommelier Isa Bal’s values for the restaurant, as well as their working relationship.

From the very beginning of the creative process, Jonny, Isa and the team think about how food and drink work together. The menu features their explorations of ingredients, dishes and drinks from around the world, inspired by the culinary history and diversity around us. The wine list is set out chronologically, following the historic beginnings of wine to present day, with over 350 wines from classic producers to the New World, as well as acknowledging the root of viti-vinoculture with wines from Georgia, Armenia and Turkey.

As well as the welcoming main dining room, Trivet has a terrace, wine bar and private dining space. Monday nights transform into the LaBombe Wine Bar.

I came here on the recommendation of a review in the FT weekend magazine- Tim Hayward. The food lived up to his description. We were fortunate to have one excellent waitress who also helped with the wine menu, which was very well thought out and presented from 7000 BC to 3000 AD! Loved it!

To quote my wife, “that was the best monkfish I’ve ever had”. Happy wife, happy life.

I visited for a friend’s birthday and had a good meal, but unfortunately, it didn’t leave a lasting impression. The food was enjoyable and well-prepared, but not outstanding. When I dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant, I expect to be wowed, both by the flavours and the service. I want to be perplexed by how each dish is crafted to taste exceptional, but sadly, nothing truly stood out. The biggest disappointment was my dessert. The Mille-Feuille pastry was incredibly bitter, bordering on burnt. When I asked if it was meant to have a bitter profile, I was told it wasn’t. To their credit, they brought out the chef’s signature dessert, which was tasty, but again, not particularly impressive, with a presentation that felt quite rustic. Service was relaxed, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but at a two-star restaurant, I expect more attention to detail. We had to ask for our dessert order to be taken after waiting some time with menus in front of us, which shouldn’t happen at this level. Overall, while the experience was pleasant, it was not what I expected for a two-star.

A Delightful Culinary Experience My overall experience at this restaurant was excellent. Each dish was crafted with incredible attention to detail, making the meal truly memorable. One standout was the pumpkin purée served with monkfish—a combination I won’t forget anytime soon. For dessert, I tried the mango sorbet, which had a rather ordinary mango flavor, but the selection of complimentary desserts more than made up for it. The berry jelly, infused with a subtle woody taste, and the perfectly executed macaron were the ideal finishing touches to a fantastic lunch. Would definitely recommend for those who appreciate refined flavors and thoughtful pairings!
