   We were very disappointed after a high recommendation from the Godfrey Hotel. They were unable to provide a cup of hot tea on a cold night, not even boiling water. The antipasto vegetables did not taste fresh or normal, the rabe and zucchini were unpleasant...whatever was added did not enhance them. The fruiti de mare was sparse on seafood. The veal steak was fried too hard and inedible, the fresh steamed broccoli rabe impossible to chew. I hope to have a better experience with Italian food before I leave Boston.

   I feel this place is over rated. Pasta didn’t taste homemade, steak was tough and there’s no real ambiance to speak of.

   Place was busy but check in process was very slow. Watched as others were seated even though we were told we were next. Food came out fast but was just ok. Calamari was overcooked. Staff was nice but don’t think we will be back.

   Food was good overall but service was slow and food was not hot. Sat on heated enclosed patio despite having a reservation weeks in advance. Took 20min to be seated for table.

   We had a reservation between events at the Garden and we were a bit late for our reservation. I had called ahead to let them know and they did seat us. However, it took over an hour to receive our food after we ordered. This caused us to be late for the second event at the Garden. While the food was delicious, I would not recommend going here if you are on a schedule.

   Our server seemed disinterested and annoyed to serve us, the food did not taste great, and we were seated right next to the bar which provided a below average ambience experience.

   The entrees and wines were very good. We had the lasagna, the 4 meat mezzi, and penne. All we very good especially the classic lasagna with vodka sauce. I was however very let down by the store bought tiramisu. It was a big miss to have such a good regular meal that tasted quite authentic and then to have such a poor dessert. Save your money and go to Mike’s a few doors down for dessert.

   We ventured over to the North End’s Little Italy without a reservation, hoping to land somewhere solid. Trattoria II Panino boasted quite a few pictures of celebs dining-in AND they had a reservation. The fried calamari was delicious, the lasagna was solid but the chicken parm was awful. When they brought it to the table, it looked like it had been sitting there for a while and the chicken was dry. The food came out so fast that it felt like it had been sitting under some heat lamp somewhere. The service was bumpy. They came to the table to offer some fresh parmesan cheese when we were more than half way done with our meal. Which is weird because it’s Italian Food and they weren’t too busy. After we paid and were leaving, I thought the host staff would say thank you and to have a good night, but they were just chatting with each other. Given all of the options in the neighborhood, I’d try something different before coming back to Trattoria Il Panino.
