Chef-owner, Giuseppe Naccarelli presents a seasonally inspired menu of classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, influenced by the cuisine of his native region of Abruzzo.
A Trabocco is a unique fishing pier found along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Architect and Designer Lev Weisbach of Weisbach Architecture|Design was inspired by the beautiful Trabocchi of Abruzzo when he created his spectacular design. With its reclaimed wood ceilings, dramatic copper encased fireplace, and modern bar Trabocco is warm and welcoming yet strikingly dramatic and modern.

This was my second time at this restaurant, and I was very pleasantly surprised. We checked in and were seated within 1 minute. Making a reservation is a must, there is nothing like having that peace of mind. The drink menu is extensive, it has a table of contents, so that should tell you everything you need to know! I got an Old Fashioned and it was made appropriately and served very quickly after I ordered it. Our server was on point. Every special menu item was described in detail. We ordered one simply because of the precise description. We ordered the oxtail ravioli, lasagna, short rib with risotto, green salad and green beans. The server listened to the order, repeated it back and then asked the kitchen to course it out for us (as opposed to sending out all the food at once). That was a nice touch. The salad came out first and it was simple and tasty. Fresh greens on a plate. It’s the type of salad you need to use bread to scoop toward your fork because the greens that were served were tender. That lasagna was super good. I didn’t have any expectations coming in, but this was great. I would go back just for that dish alone. Honestly, I’d order a family size portion of that just to have seconds, and thirds. It was that good. The ravioli was savory and delicious. Props to the chef for combining two of my personal favorites into one dish. The pasta was fresh. You could tell by the mouthfeel. The last course we had was the short rib, risotto and the green beans. The lemon zest on the beans was a nice touch. Alycia said that was the dish that surprised her the most. The risotto had a good rosemary hit. I do wish that the risotto was just a tad more creamy, but the mushrooms really added the right moisture. The short rib was good and very well prepared, it could have used slightly more seasoning. The sauce was hella good and balanced the dish out. The food was a great vehicle for a very important conversation with my daughter. I recommend this spot!

I'm usually a big fan of Trabacco. Living nearby, it is typically delicious food assured, but last night was different. Perhaps because it was a weekday or something else was off, the food we ordered was underwhelming to say the least. We didn't want to make a big fuss about it, but I had talked up Trabocco to the person I went there with last night, and it was a bit disappointing. He ordered a steak which was overcooked and kind of grainy, as if it had been previously frozen or a bad cut of meat. The potatoes were a bit greasy, not the usual flavorful taste. The spinach was awesome though! I ordered the Fagiolata with a different dressing and it was well, just OK. On a bright note, the bartender concocted a delicious Mescal cocktail not on the menu which made the whole experience so much better!

I work in a restaurant which is Italian as well, I have never had a bad experience at Trabacco, first class all the way family-owned and run. Everyone should dine there at least once if not more. A definite gem in Alameda
