Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Town Square Tavern offers a vibrant dining experience with standout dishes like "whole branzino cooked to perfection" and "angry lobster pappardelle." The ambiance is lively and welcoming, enhanced by "great tasting food and excellent service." Although still fine-tuning operations, it's quickly becoming a local favorite.

This was our second visit and won't be our last. We are looking forward to bring more friends. Knowing that we have the potential of a David Burke Restaurant among us is unbelievable and needed. No other way to say it. Absolutely amazing entrees and appetizers Our fish entree and burgers were cooked to perfection The appetizers were delicious. Desserts were great. Almost everything was spot on for a fantastic Burke dining experience. Here's where the wheels fall off the bus, the staff needs significant training in how to make a complete dining experience. This took away from a perfect evening They need to know their menu better, how to explain entrees appropriately and desserts. Remembering small requests when asked and being better prepared when presenting dinners and appetizers. They need to ask before the customer asks. And most importantly not forgetting about your customers. Plus appropriate conversation between other staff, some things should not be heard. This can certainly ruin a dining experience even if the food is beyond perfection. If they are going to run a David Burke experience they need to step up to a plate literally. The chef is doing his part. He knocked it out of the ballpark two times. His talents truly shine. It was our second visit and we will definitely be back The speciality drinks were exceptional both times as the bartenders know what they're doing. I hope they succeed as we need such a wonderful restaurant in Keene. The David Burke corporation has the format now it is just up to the staff to follow his lead. Happy Dining many times over

First time dining at Town Square Tavern and was not impressed. Food was lackluster and cocktails we ordered that would expect a bartender know how to make (lemon drop and cosmopolitan) were not made well. Menu is limited and no specials on a Saturday night. Its predecessor, Luccas, was leaps and bounds a much better dining experience.

We really enjoyed our meals. Started with the rings and wings. Fun presentation and very tasty! For our meals we had the Grilled Salmon and steak frittes dinners. Very delicious and enjoyable.

I made a reservation. We came in on time . The hostess couldn’t figure out how to use the computer system which is fine . We sat at the bar and no one came over for about 10 minutes . It was just a weird and unwelcoming vibe so we walked out and went to the Stage restaurant and had the best time there . Management should do better on training the staff.

Town Square Tavern is a new comer on the restaurant scene in Keene. The facility housed a long established Keene restaurant. I think the folks at Town Square have taken it up a notch. They shifted the entry door to the side closing the old, wind tunnel ramp entrance. The lighting has been improved and they installed a new, pleasant bar. The food was very good. I had short ribs on pasta and Mary had salmon. For desert we shared a cinnamon roll topped with ice cream on a hot skillet. It delightful. The manager stopped by the table to chat and the waitress, Grace, did a great job. In short we will go back.

I found this place to be overrated. The food was nothing special and honestly not great. There was no cocktail menu, a small wine list, and it took longer than it should to get a glass of wine and beer. We got the lobster dumplings which did not taste good, and the wings and rings were messy, plus there was only a few pieces of calamari. We were very unimpressed.

Our server was fantastic! She was helpful with the menu and offered great advice on the dishes we selected. A manager presented the wine to us and asked us about our experience. The space and dinner was wonderful and allowed us to have a nice 2-hour dining experience. The food was spectacular. I had the Whole Branzino, which was cooked to perfection with layers of flavors and spices. My husband had the Angry Lobster Pappardelle, which was also fantastic. Pasta was cooked perfectly with big chunks of lobster meat, and again amazing flavors. We couldn't decide which dish we liked most. All around a great meal. So glad we gave this new place a try - were excited for round two! Just moved to the top of our list of favorite restaurants in the area.

We had a 8:30 pm dinner reservation on a Friday night which was Valentine’s Day. We tried calling the restaurant multiple times on our way (we were driving 45 min) to let them know it we were running a little late, and we sent a message via the open table app as well. I called multiple times but was only left with voicemail but voicemail was recording was from the previous restaurant and a different name which was really confusing. We figured they were so busy being valentines night they couldn’t pick up the phone so we carried on to the restaurant. Initially finding the restaurant was challenging and confusing because there was no sign for the name of the restaurant on the awning or door. No signage outside. When we entered the restaurant, it was stark, with bright lights and looked more like an office space than a restaurant. One couple sat a 2-top blankly sitting there seemingly waiting for something. We went to the hostess stand when the hostess unexpectedly told us, “We’re closed.” It was now 9:00 pm. We were so confused. I told her we had a reservation and how I had called a few times on our way but no one picked up. The hostess sheepishly explained they had run out of all of their food and the whole night of service was a bit of a nightmare with many things gone wrong. We were perhaps spared a bad dinner and the lackluster ambiance and atmosphere itself made us realize we likely won’t go back to actually taste their food. The place is not, cozy, obviously completely disorganized with not being able to achieve the professional basics, much less obviously unprepared for a Friday night of dinner service on Valentine’s Day. My sense is that this new restaurant is not ready to be open, struggled with management and may not survive long enough to get to the other side. But a sign and a voice message machine that correctly states your current restaurant might be a food place for them to start. 🤦‍♀️
