The ffrost Sawyer Tavern is located in the beautiful and historic Three Chimneys Inn. The Tavern, with its open hearth Summer Kitchen fireplace, granite walls, and hand-hewn beams, provides a cozy spot for hearty traditional New England fare. The Tavern is a popular dining spot for local guests and travelers. The Maples Dining Room features millwork dating to 1699 and retains the original Indian shutters that protected settlers from Colonial-era attacks. Coppers, the original winter kitchen of the 1649 homestead, provides an elegant and romantic setting. Wide plank floors, the open hearth and original millwork create an authentic old New England dining experience.

Our culinary team prepares savory dishes from scratch with exceptional, homegrown flavor. The kitchen works closely with local farms and growers to pick fresh ingredients for creative entrees and innovative cocktails, resulting in exceptional farm-to-table cuisine that showcases the essence of New Hampshire.

We had a delightful Thanksgiving dinner in the tavern. The atmosphere was cozy and warm on a gloomy and rainy day. The surface was excellent, our server was so personable and cheerful and thanked us for coming on Thanksgiving day. The timing was also perfect – – plenty of time for us to talk and enjoy being together. The food was fine, but not fabulous. But honestly that is not all that surprising given that every reservation was taken. Even with the food, I would go back in a heartbeat

Thanksgiving at Three Chimneys was a real treat. The turkey and fixings were delicious and generous, and I especially loved the harvest salad, the bread, and the the green beans, which were all outstanding. The tavern downstairs is quieter but two members of our party couldn't negotiate the stairs. We ate in a lovely room on the first floor instead and received fantastic service throughout our meal. My only suggestion would be to offer a smaller portion option because the servings we got were way bigger than we could eat. On the other hand, we now have lots of leftovers!

A delightful setting, timely service. Max, our server, was very attentive and helpful. Disappointed that they were already out of prime rib at 6:30. Overall a nice experience.

Seating was cramped but the server was nice, as were our drinks. We started with brussel sprouts (meh) and tuna (I've never had tuna smell fishy, it was awful). We had the (restaurant week) salad, fried chicken, cheesecake. The salad was absolutely awesome, but we had barely started it and they brought out the entree. So by the time we got to the chicken it was cold - it was sort of greasy chicken tenders on top of mashed potatoes and some sad looking peas. It wasn't good, but the cheesecake was great. The wine list was pretty limited. Overall I felt like I had paid ($230) about twice as much as the experience and food were worth.

The tavern provided a cozy and unique setting for a dinner out, while visiting my daughter at UNH. It was our first time there, but we will definitely return. The Inn is adorable, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding! The proximity to the school was also very convenient. I highly recommend!

Wonderful atmosphere in this centuries old building. I started with the tomato bisque which was top tier in texture and flavor then had the fried chicken, wife had the steak tips, both were excellent. Wine was decently priced and the lemonchello desert cake was decadent and well sized for two. Highly recommend and one of the better meals on this east coast swing.

We love the tavern and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. However, the food was slow to arrive, and one meal was not particularly hot. Portions seemed small given the prices too.
