   We dined at Knife Italian on New Year’s Eve, and sadly, the experience did not live up to expectations. When we made the reservation, there was no mention of a prix-fixe menu being the only option for the evening, priced at $200 per person. This came as an unpleasant surprise when we arrived, as my wife and I had planned to share a couple apps and a pasta to celebrate. To make matters worse, we were told that the prix-fixe menu was mandatory for each guest, which would have totaled $400 for the two of us. The only reason we were allowed to order just one set to share was because we were staying at the hotel. Had we been walk-in guests, we would have been forced to order two sets. This lack of transparency felt misleading and frustrating, especially since I had spoken to the hostess earlier in the day about their corkage fee, and no mention of the prix-fixe menu was made at that time. The food, unfortunately, did not justify the hefty price. We opted for the steak, which was mediocre at best, and the three accompanying sides arrived lukewarm. For a meal priced at $200, the quality was severely lacking. Even with the compromise of ordering just one set, the experience still felt overpriced and underwhelming. While the staff did their best to accommodate us, the lack of upfront communication about the prix-fixe menu and the subpar dining experience made this a disappointing evening. Knife Italian’s New Year’s Eve offering fell far short of expectations, leaving us feeling dissatisfied on what should have been a special occasion.

   Alexis is the best. We enjoy eating here while staying at the hotel. She is a valuable asset to the restaurant.

   Limited menu; had the $75 filet and it was stringy and poorly cooked. Sent it back and got another steak that was stringy and poorly cooked. Amazed that a Ritz would have such a marginal restaurant onsite

   Our regular server , Alexis, was with us today making everything perfect. Started with the Classic Caesar topped with wild salmon. Then proceeded to the Margarita Pizza to Finnish off with an Italian flair. The holiday quiet allowed us to appreciate the beautiful design of this Ritz culinary offering. Knife, although Italian, displays a far Eastern decor or ambiance - as if you were immersed in Madame Butterfly with chef Pucini.

   I booked my reservations for the standard menu and not the holiday meal. However once we arrived they only had their holiday menu to choose from. It was too late in the evening to go anywhere else on Christmas so I didn’t want to spend the remainder of the night looking for another place to eat. The taste of the food was average at best and not worth the price.

   My review is for the prefix Christmas Day brunch. I rated the food, poor and the overall experience and value, poor relative to the $159 ++ charge per person. The experience did not meet expectations by a wide margin.

    Amazing dining experience, the staff went above and beyond to make it a special occasion. The food was incredible and cooked to perfection, the live music was tasteful and at a very comfortable noise level which I find is a rare occurrence. The wine pairing was very well chosen and the food portions were very substantial as well. I would recommend this place for special occasions, dates, and special holidays. This definitely was what was looking for.
