This was our first time at The Red Herring. We were a party of 4 adults and two young children. Everyone was so well catered for. The food was truly delicious, wine choices exceptional and the waiting staff couldn’t do enough for us, very attentive. Be back soon!

Party all had various sandwiches with skinny fries , and a child’s portion fish chips followed by ice cream. No complaints and everyone cleared their plate. No Christmas decor , Wi-Fi not working and Childs menu not available, also it would be nice to be served by only only server , we had several playing all different parts , seemed a little disjointed but on the whole the food was nice ..

Food was amazing, and the staff were wonderful, very attentive and helpful. It was a Christmas family meal, 2toddlers and the staff were brilliant. We’ll be back!!

We had a lovely meal food was well presented and very tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive there was a slight mix up with drinks which was sorted quickly and without any fuss.

We only went for a coffee but we were made very welcome, the coffee was excellent and the service was very friendly. They are having problems with their app as I received countless messages to confirm that I had booked – which I certainly had – only to be told when we arrived that they had no record of the booking. They admitted that the app was not working too well but they were sorting it out.

Food was tasty but ravioli portion too small others were barely adequate. Service extremely slow. Six of us seated before 7.30, starters received at 8:20 and main course at 9:30! Appreciated that not long opened and may be some teething problems but a word of explanation or apology for delays at some point would have been appreciated.

First session breakfast; I had the full and it was all good, I admit I didn't finish it all but I tasted everything. My sister had the poached eggs on black pudding perched on tattie scones with hollandaise sauce. She was very pleased. Pots of tea all round. Our waitress, Frederika is and delightful. Warm, friendly and interactive, a valuable addition to the floor. George, the manager, moved speedily and calmly bussing tables and handling the barista requirements most professionally. We'll certainly be back, maybe lunch next time.

We visited on opening day so a couple of small teething issues, mainly related to staff but it WAS the first day for some of them so we’re sure this will improve. The food was excellent, prawn starter to share, big enough portion for sharing. The beef stroganoff was delicious and pizza was good too. Wine very reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be back!
