The Red Door San Diego is committed to offering our guests sustainable and responsibly sourced farm-to-fork dishes. We proudly serve contemporary Italian and modern European cuisine with the freshest locally grown and handcrafted products available. We also feature delicious and unique ingredients from around the world. Chef/Owner Luciano Cibelli shops daily, personally selecting every item we serve. He bakes fresh breads, rolls, desserts and all of the pasta in house (including a special Gluten Free Bucatini) and he develops his menus in rhythm with the seasonal San Diego harvest.     I have eaten at the Red Door several times. It is quietly one of the underrated restaurants in San Diego. All of the dishes we have had have been good. Some of the dishes I recommend are the Beets and Burrata, the lobster ravioli, the Chateaubriand and the daily risotto. Service is always attentive and the owner/chef Luciano will generally come out and greet each guest at some point. The ambiance is quiet. It is a great place to have a dinner where you can hear each other talk. I highly recommend trying Red Door.

    Food was fine...I have had better seared scallops. My husband had seafood fettuccini, they do give you a LOT of seafood, but all in shells so be prepared to get a little messy getting the clams and mussels out of the shells. Fettuccini could have been more flavorful. The "pizza" appetizer was good...sausage was delicious but did not taste the pesto. We went for our anniversary (noted on reservation) and there was not one word when we checked in for our reservation. Had chocolate lava cake for dessert...outside was relatively dry, was expecting a more chocolatey rich dessert.
