About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Kid-friendly
The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Parking on site.

Unfortunately, our food was not good. Pistachio encrusted Halibut was served with burnt pistachio and dried out fish. Broccolini was also burnt on the outside and raw and crunchy. My companions dinner was not any better with cold crab and burnt outer crab cake and over cooked shrimp. Suspect there are inexperienced line cooks making meals that are priced far to high not to be prepared by experienced chefs. The staff was nice and doing the best they could while serving such an inferior product. Coming from a tourist town, we know this type of business. They are designated as "tourist traps".

The food was amazing! We all had the fried chicken. All 4 of us was impressed! The mashed sweet potato was very good as well as the peppers. The biscuits and corn bread also were great before dinner.

Last night in Savannah and completely enjoyed our dinner at The Pirate’s House. Enjoyed the fried chicken and friend shrimp. Portions are very generous and definitely are good for sharing. Maddie, our server, was very personable and gave us excellent service.

Surprisingly good food for what we thought would be just a tourist spot. Highly recommend.

Really cool setting with the history of the building. We did the lunch buffet and it was good with a good selection. Service was first rate.

We did not get the appetizers we ordered. Took 3 asks to get a glass of water. Food was great. Kids loved their meals and the gift shop.

Our waiter acted mad and annoyed by us before we even ordered. He seemed very inconvenienced that we were there and I felt embarrassed that I brought my family there.

Food was okay. Our server clearly didn't want to be there. I had to remind her to bring water. It took a long time to get both the food and the check. Although we were inside, it seemed like most of the patrons were using their outdoor voices inside. My friend and I eventually just stopped trying to talk to each other bc the only way to verbally communicate was by yelling. Wont be going back
