About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Kid-friendly
  • Good for special occasions
The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Parking on site.

Icky! The food was pretty terrible. Decore is “historic” but dirty. I appreciate this is a tourist destination so if you want to see the place wander around and then go somewhere better to eat!

Fun place to go to explore history. We had a waitress in the very back who was friendly, helpful and had great suggestions. The food was so good. I had the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese and aoli sauce . Never had that before. That was excellent as well as the corn muffins and biscuits. Highly recommend. Fun. Local. Relaxed. Great walk in neighborhood afterwards.

The experience was not all that we were hoping for from the reviews we had read. We ordered apps and never got them. Dinner came and my one entree was sent back. 20+ Minutes later we finally got my meal and the whole family was done. We ordered fries to keep the kids busy while we waited for my dinner and those never showed up. I don’t recommend this for all the hype and we were so excited.

We had a party of 10 and Michael was our server. He was excellent at telling us what we needed to know about the menu and the specials. He was a very good listener and a great server. It was my husband’s birthday and we were visiting from Ohio. We really had an amazing experience. Thank you for such a good meal!

I love the atmosphere and history of The Pirates’ House. My server was excellent and attentive. The food was quite average, and portions were small.

Michael, our server was wonderful and very good. The issue we had was that the food was served cold or lukewarm. We did not complain at the restaurant because we are not those type of people. I will try going back there again, but if I have the same issue with the food, I wouldn’t go back again.

Grouper and the shrimp gumbo were our mains. Both very good. Portion sizes were generous. We also shared She Crab. It was very good as well. We were in a small room with three tables. Easy to hear all conversations. As such, we heard one table complain their chicken was over cooked. The house cab was unremarkable. Priced at $7 a glass (was $6 on their website). Pirates didn’t bother us 😎
