To pay 140.00 for a tea I would have expected a little more from the Waldorf Astoria. The tea was held in the lobby right across from the main entrance of the hotel, and so the ambience was really not very good. Savory sandwiches were very good; but there could have been more savory and less the equal number of desserts. Too much sugar! Scones were very good, but I would have preferred another scone to all those really, really sweet desserts. Dont think I will be back. Langham in Pasadena and the Peninsula and Montage in Beverly HIlls, offer much more for the money.

I’ve been to a number of afternoon tea services around Los Angeles. The Waldorf Astoria has room for improvement. Their Tea selection was quite limited. Tea was served lukewarm and weak. Savory elements were tasty, and scones were fresh. Cream and jam were very nice, lemon curd was just ok. The dessert components were very hit and miss and did not seem fresh. Veuve Cliquot Champagne was excellent. The service was friendly and efficient and they took care to bring us stronger tea piping hot water when we complained about our tea being cold.

Probably deserve a grander setting than the lobby of the hotel. The sweets were excellent. Sandwiches also very good. Frankly surprised at the high quality of the food.

It was not what we expected at all. The tea got cold very fast and the options were less than expected. They had difficulty accommodating dietary restrictions. The food didn’t taste fresh. The service was good and staff were very friendly. For this price point I’d say go to the Langham for a more elevated experience.

This was an absolutely perfect way to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Everything was pretty— the ambiance, the environment, the live piano music, and the decadent treats. I mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and with seamless, invisible effort the staff knew which of us was the one having the birthday and brought an extra special treat for her while the pianist played Happy Birthday— a lovely, elegant, non-embarrassing celebration that was just right. I was a little surprised at how limited the tea selection was but I greatly enjoyed the one I chose and couldn’t be happier with the whole afternoon.

Took my mom here for afternoon tea for Mother’s Day- waited an hour and a half for the food to come out. Service was lackluster and servers were unfriendly. Food was okay but the desserts (especially macarons and cookies) were way too sweet.

The positive: Ambiance is outstanding. The seating is comfortable, no too crowded. A lady played lovely music at the piano. The negative: Service is substandard for a 5 star hotel. Our seating is at 2:15, and apparently the Afternoon Tea service ends at 4:00 pm. No one checked on our table before they left. We had to go to call someone at the front desk staff to give us a to go box. And the staff was clearly not happy about being bothered with our request. The tea selection is very limited, and food is substandard also for Afternoon Tea. The scones are entirely American style ones and overly sweet. Rather than serving the scones with Devonshire clotted cream, a "double whipped cream" was served. When we asked about the clotted cream, the waiter had to check with the chef then replied, "the chef says it is the same as the double whipped cream", which is obviously not true by any definition. The sandwiches are dry, the desserts are unimpressive. Nothing stood out in terms of food, leaving a great deal to be desired. Overall, it is a poor value experience. I shall not return.
