Located in gorgeous, restored 18th century stables around a courtyard just a short drive from Edinburgh city centre in historic Dalkeith Country Park. Light-filled and spacious, Restoration Café's ceiling to floor windows afford a panorama along the River Esk to the estate's famous Orangerie. Open until late afternoon 7 days a week, we do our best to cater for all dietary needs over breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and our series of exclusive evening events.

It would have been nice to have a vegetarian alternative to the traditional Christmas dinner, but my meal was nice, just not very Christmassy!

Lovely setting. Sauce on the eggs benedict was extremely thick and too rich for the amount on the plate.

Lovely afternoon tea which was for a voucher I had won. We had our two children with us and staff were very accommodating making up little things for them to have too!

This is the second time that I have had lunch in the Kitchen as well as having breakfast a couple of times. I have always found the staff and service very good and the food excellent. It is a beautiful location with super views from the light and airy restaurant. I think the lighter option meals for lunch are just ideal for many people. A lot os good options to suit most people? Thank you again. Liz Charles

Restoration Yard yet again proved that they are getting it right. The ambience, service, efficient and very friendly staff and not forgetting the superb food.

Lovely food, I can recommend the sweet potato & chickpea curry. The others had the chicken burger they said it was yummy - would definitely order this again. Clean and lovely decor.

I would definitely recommend The Kitchen as I've been there for lunch several times and it's been lovely. I was therefore a little disappointed with the afternoon tea as there were hardly any sandwiches, the fillings were poor and the scones were far too big and too crumbly to cut. I would not recommend afternoon tea at The Kitchen
