Very average both service and food. I’ve been coming here for years, but sadly the service and food have really gone downhill. What used to be a reliable favorite has turned into a bit of a disappointment. A real shame.

We visited as a family of four on Easter Sunday. The restaurant was relatively quiet due to the long weekend, and we were given a lovely corner booth at the front—perfect for our daughters (7 and 6) to relax with their iPads. Service was friendly and welcoming. Our waiter in particular was great—attentive and kind. Starters included arancini and zucchini fritters; the fritters were massive and a bit overwhelming for a starter (my mistake in ordering, not the kitchen's fault). Bread was freshly baked, warm, and excellent. We had champagne and a bottle of red with our mains, though there was a small hiccup: the mains arrived at the same time as the wine, which made for an awkward few minutes before we could properly settle in. Also, the wine I originally ordered wasn’t available, and the alternative wasn’t explained well—but it turned out to be a fine substitute. My fillet steak with truffle fries was perfectly cooked, though the tomato salad on the side was a bit soggy. My wife enjoyed her Asian cod, and our daughters were happy with plain pasta and butter. Overall, a good experience and solid value for money. Just not quite as polished as I remembered, but still a nice spot for a family meal.

As a regular to The Ivy this was a disappointing experience on this occasion. We were there with two young children. Food was served promptly to them as we asked for theirs with our starters. Our mains were over an hour later. No communication on the timeline of our food. When we said we would cancel our mains they arrived. An unfortunate experience in a restaurant we like.

Roast was not great. Not a lot of taste to the beef and the gravy was very watery.
