   Another outstanding experience at The Hermitage. The chef Michael consistently turns out beautiful plates, perfectly cooked regardless of what you order. We sampled the special cinnamon bun baked in a skillet. It is indescribable - so delicious. While we split it between 4, we could have easily had another person share it with us - a generous portion. Eggs with fillet mignon or lobster crepes - just perfectly prepared. Skiers and those who are just relaxing in the area should make every effort to sample lunch, brunch and dinner. While special celebrations are in order in the grand, elegant dining room, brunch, lunch, early or late dinner are very cozy in the tavern bar. My family appreciates the variety of offerings when we gather and we appreciate the romantic atmostphere for just the two of us. The wine list is exceptional. The prices at The Hermitage are similar to much lesser restaurants locally. I would chose this location over any other in the valley for my personal style of eating - fresh, simple, ample, local in a beautiful location. Thank you!

   We have dined here multiple times. This was not as good an experience as in the past. Service very uneven. Long waits between some courses. Water not refilled until we asked. Fish dish overcooked and dry. No spoons with side dishes. $40 red wine by the glass ice cold and came after I finished my main. Food was otherwise very good. The lamb shank was reportedly excellent as the filet. And the place is beautiful,, especially this time of year. A generally positive experience that could be great.

   Do not recommend. Service was..... very odd, and not good. The hostess seemed stoned and confused when we arrived for our reservation. It was wintertime and 10 degrees outside, and she never told us about the coat check, so we had huge bulky coats on our chairs. We only discovered the coat check later. Isn't this a ski lodge? The server never stopped by the table to ask how the food was, if we needed anything, to refill water, etc. When she did come, she only filled my husband's water glass and mine was always left empty. The table next to us had to ask their server for silverware when their food came out -- so this seems to be a trend of terrible service. There are only two bathrooms - seemed like one stall was accidentally locked as no one ever came out of it. There was always a line for the one bathroom. My husband accidentally walked in on the hostess at one point because she didn't lock the door. Luckily she was by the sink, but she did slam the door in his face. I was VERY noticeably pregnant so it was extra irritating to have to repeatedly ask for water and not be able to go to the bathroom. Food was expensive and bland. No spices whatsoever, and the vegetables were not fully cooked. No salt on the table to save the meal. Took food home and cooked the leftovers myself to make it better. Made the reservation with a note regarding my husband's birthday. Usually restaurants do something nice. Not this sh*th0le. Save your money and go somewhere else.

   Waitress told us our food was "being plated" after an already very long wait. It didn't show up for another 15 minutes after being told it was being plated. No explanation; she pretty much ignored us while we were waiting. Some food items were great. Others were just ok. And quite expensive. Lovely atmosphere though!

   Service incredibly slow, felt way understaffed and ignored but server was friendly. Tavern menu too fancy… need other casual options. Pasta was way undercooked, almost crunchy. Oysters good, Caesar good, pork chop overcooked and dry. Skirt steak excellent. Probably just stick to drinks at bar.

    The ambience and lunch menu at the Hermitage Inn have that perfect Vermont charm. Kudos to the creator of the outstanding cocktails and mocktails which were unique and delicious. Our family holiday time spent together in the warm and inviting tavern was so wonderful, due to the staff and especially our attentive server, Crystal.
