As a quick note to customers we would like to inform you that all of our reservable outdoor tables are under cover and have heating. Also standard seating is indoor seating.
Proprietor Nicholas Drillsma and partner Sandy Barton have built an enviable reputation over the past 28 years in producing the highest quality, locally sourced food, complimented by an extensive wine list.

    Lovely traditional old pub in a great location on the Ashdown forest. Good atmosphere, tasty and well prepared food with staff happy to accommodate your wishes. Was a bit too breezy on our visit, but plenty of sweet outdoor seating as well. Definitely recommend.

    Excellent food and service. This is not cheap but you are paying for quality. Don't expect pub grub, this is good restaurant standard.

    Brilliant as always….Great service, great location, fab Ploughman’s and a magnificent Thai Curry. My son’s company was pretty good too!

    Great meal. One of our party had the Steak and Ale pie and as a lover of pies said it was the best he’d tasted. Also top marks for the sticky toffee pudding.

    Charming historic pub in the Ashdown Forest, with everything you’d expect from such a place. Blazing fires, colourful locals, great food prepared from scratch, Harvey’s beer, remote location. Love it!
