Fabulous pub food produced in a Great British modern style, in traditional, friendly, relaxed and inviting surroundings.
Our award winning kitchen is a hive of creativity where our passionate, talented, and creative young Head Chef, and the rest of his dedicated team, work their magic as they cook freshly prepared, locally sourced meat, fish, veg and dairy products, as well as freshly baked artisan breads.
The seasonally changing, modern Great British-Style menus, are the epiphany of today's "gastro-style" pub restaurants, but along with a sense of the "home-comforts", often contain that "twist" on tradition, as well as flavours and variants on recipes from all over the World. We also have a daily changing "Specials" board, where Chef's imagination runs even wilder, along with a much acclaimed Great British tapas or nibble menu.
For your convenience, full table service is offered in our main dining room, or sit anywhere in or outside the pub, and place your order at the bar.

Arrived on time for a 1 o'clock lunch to be told by an indifferent waitress that we would have to wait for 30 minutes as there was a christening party. The place looks in need of refurbishment and in a way we were not unhappy to leave and spend our money elsewhere. I have a property in the village and the last time I was there around 2 years ago the pub was welcoming and the food was good but I won't be going back ant time soon !

We arrived at the evening time booked but staff had no knowledge of our booking. There were no tables prepared. The staff were embarrassed and didn't know how to apologise - presumably our booking had not got through to them. The main restaurant had been emptied of tables in readiness for a party. We were finally ushered into a small room which served as an overflow for the large number of very noisy partygoers who arrived shortly after we were seated. Quiet conversation was impossible and we had to strain to make ourselves heard over the excessive shouting of the many folks standing around our table and crowding the room. Not a good experience at all.

We booked a table for four for my husband's birthday 10 days in advance. We arrived slightly early, to be told the chef had not yet arrived. The table was booked for 1.30pm and there was still no sign of the chef at 1.45pm. Considering we were expecting a Sunday lunch, we were aware we would probably have a long wait for a fresh roast to be cooked. We kept asking what was the situation, and were told she was coming on the bus (Sunday, Bank Holiday on 1st January?). We were then told they could not contact her on her mobile. We were not even offered a complimentary drink whilst waiting, so we told them we would have the round of drinks we had whilst waiting for free. They were not bothered in the least when we told them we were leaving just after 2.00pm, just as the chef arrived in a car! Cannot therefore rate the food or value. Very disappointed.

Food was tasty and wholesome, and staff were friendly enough. Would definitely recommend it as an alternative to the busy places at Cheshire Oaks as its only a few minutes away. Only slight issue was my pudding was frozen in the middle still - have to say it was incredibly yummy still though!

The staff are attentive and the food was served hot, albeit a little OTT with the gravey.

Lovely food couldn't fault it and very pleasant staff, however they didn't have a clue what they were doing. Left standing waiting for someone to show us to our table, when we asked we were told to just find a table but all were still full of old dishes and although we had booked no table was large enough for five people. Eventually showed us to a table in the bar area which was fine but we were the only table in there. I would go again for the food but in the hope the staff (as I said very pleasant) but have had some training.

Made welcome, enjoyed the food, and real ale. Chef took interest in our choices. First visit for quite some time, will certainly visit again.
