The restaurant welcomes the general public, not just ticketed guests of the Metropolitan Opera House. Reservations required. This was literally the most amazing evening ever. I've long wanted to go to the NY Metropolitan Opera House and to dine at the Grand Tier and I'm so glad it finally happened. Dining at the Grand Tier is so beautiful and fantastic. From the moment we entered, James was there and treated everyone like we were regulars. Our server, Duke, was there to answer questions and was just so helpful. The FOOD was delicious. The portions were perfect, but not heavy. I had the swordfish and it was so good! We did the pre-fixed price (drinks are additional) and it's very comparable to other fine dining excursions, but this is at a whole different level. One of the other parts that I loved was, you can hold the dessert portion until intermission. You go back to the same table that you were given and when it's intermission, they have the dessert and pre-ordered drinks ready. I absolutely loved this evening. It's a beautiful setting and it very well have been a "once in a lifetime" moment for me and if so- it's one I'll remember forever.

The food and service is very very good, and who doesn’t appreciate dining under a massive Chagal? But! Honestly the prices are beyond insane. Too bad. $250 for 1 coarse coffe and a shared desert?

The atmosphere was a bit pretentious, but that was expected. We chose the fixed price option, but after tasting the mushroom soup, sent it back; the salt was overwhelming. As alternatives, we chose the crab cake and bison carpaccio, which were both excellent. As a second course, my wife chose the Lobster Thermidor, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the venison chops, which were good, but nothing special. The meat was under seasoned and the accompanying sauce tasted almost like grape juice - it did nothing to complement the venison. As the final course, the Earl Gray crème brûlée was very good. The service at the Grand Tier was attentive and professional.

The food and service were exceptional. We had great food and a great time. I really liked how dessert was waiting for us at Intermission. Pricey, though…

There is no other way to eat a five star meal in perfect surroundings and see an opera performance. The meal exceeded all expectations and was an excellent value. Service was superb.

Service and hospitality was fine, but the main dishes were not good. Both the beef tenderloin and the venison chop had a mushy consistency like they were left in a sous vide for too long. All of the sides were just ok. Would not go back.
