The Grand Tier Restaurant is located inside The Metropolitan Opera House and offers both a la carte and prix fixe menus. The restaurant welcomes the general public, not just ticketed guests of the Metropolitan Opera House. Reservations required. The restaurant’s location makes it the perfect pre-theater dining experience for all guests of Lincoln Center. The exquisite modern American cuisine and classic dining room, highlighted by Chagall murals and brilliant Swarovski crystal chandeliers, make it a memorable destination regardless of the occasion. Our doors open two hours before curtains go up.
Ticketed guests of the Metropolitan Opera may also dine in the restaurant at intermission, but must pre-order and reserve via phone: 212.799.3400, or email: thegrandtier@patinagroup.com . Reservations for ticketed guests dining at intermission ONLY, are not taken via Open Table.
Please note that proof of vaccination is no longer required.

Our server, Todd, was excellent and efficient with taking our orders and answering our questions. The staff overall was very helpful and friendly throughout our entire dining experience. Best place to have dinner or brunch before a show at the Lincoln Center!

Elegant setting; a pleasure to see heavy white table cloths. Arctic char en papillate was outstanding. Eggs Benedict with salmon also very good. Coffee a bit burnt. Service was fine. Highly recommended for pre performance meal.

How could you not love the experience of eating at The MET! Food, service was great. The only problem I had was that they kept trying to give me a table in a corner. To be fair, in my profile, it does say my preference is a booth, so the maitre d had to do some juggling, because that kind of preference does not really work in this venue. So I have learned that you must call BEFORE and be specific about any preference on seating. Other than that-everything was perfect!!!

We celebrated my partner’s birthday and the extra attention was lovely. It made an evening at the Opera magical!

Absolutely amazing! We had very tasty courses that gave us enough time to eat before the opera began and also allowed us time to have our dessert at the intermission. It was a wonderful experience.

Don't go unless you have money to burn. Some of the food was good (the first courses: salad with pears, and the foie gras, and the dessert soufflé). But the main dish, a fake "Lobster Thermidor" was unforgivable. It was stuffed mostly with mushrooms: more mushrooms than lobster meat. It was a fraud. And to boot, it was served barely lukewarm. Service was passable but barely. The staff seemed very very busy, but not with us. No check-in after the dishes were presented to see if everything was OK. (That custom seems to have disappeared from restaurants everywhere.) The wine pouring was good. We will not be returning. We didn't come (either of our two times) for a bargain; it was for convenience, and that we got. But the price tag (about $500 for two) is ridiculous. For that price the food should be world class, and instead, it's basically a joke.

Wonderful meal with 10:30 reservations before 12 o’clock opera. Arctic char en papillote was delicious. Wait staff were courteous overall, but our waiter had a large party and we waited a while for his attention. We received our food quickly after ordering, so no worries about getting to our seats in time.
