About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for scenic views
  • Lively
The Grand Marlin Restaurant features a main dining area with a shucked to order oyster bar, exterior North Drop Bar overlooking the beautiful Santa Rosa Sound, and private meeting rooms. This Pensacola Beach restaurant, with an air of island casualness, serves the highest-quality cuisine, including the freshest local seafood featured on menus designed and printed daily to take advantage of the local bounty. The atmosphere creates a fusion of the Caribbean and the Pensacola Bay Area. Executive Chef Gregg McCarthy has a passion for great-tasting food and particularly loves working his culinary magic with fresh Gulf Coast seafood. Boaters and beach-goers feel comfortable in shorts and flip-flops at the oyster bar, in the dining room and at the North Drop Bar. The Grand Marlin has a space and atmosphere for all occasions and is looking forward to creating an authentic experience between time and tide.

The Grand Marlin is one of our favorite restaurants on Pensacola Beach. The food is delicious and always consistently delicious. We ordered the special of the night - porcini encrusted halibut with wild mushroom and pea risotto with shrimp nage, a filet mignon, a bottle of French Bordeaux and key lime pie. The key lime pie IMO is one of the best around. A thick graham cracker crust and more of a light mousse vs a heavy, dense filling. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. We ate in the north drop outdoor patio where it is a bit louder (lots of hard surfaces). But inside dining is quieter.

Food, ambiance, value, was fabulous (5 out of 5). One minor thing to call-out though was that the service was a bit slow. Now our server was engaging, answered all of our questions, friendly - everything you'd want from your server, but he did seem to have either a lot of tables, or too many excess responsibilities & it made the service slow. In his defense, that maybe more related to the cooking staff then it was so much the server himself. All said, I definitely would still come back, as all of the other amenities made the evening a wonderful dining experience. And even the longer-than-usual wait for food could be tolerated because our meals were just that good.

They were 30 minutes late to seat us for our reservation on open table. Put us next to a hot area tucked in a corner behind the bar. Hostesses could care less apparently. We ended up just leaving and never having dinner. Can’t comment on the food. I’ve been coming here for 10 years and never experienced anything like this. I will never come back.

The food was delicious, our server was very accommodating and attentive, and even though it was freezing outside, they had wind shields down to allow a still comfortable dining experience on the patio

Always our favorite in Pensacola. The food is outstanding. Try the Baked Oysters Rockefeller. OMG! Can’t wait for our return.

6:30 reservation. Weren’t seated until 7:10. To be honest we were about 5 minutes late and I did call to let them know and apologize. Also I did ask for a table along the edge but was not informed that this would delay us significantly. After going back to the hostess twice I said just give us first up. Regardless 7:10 was unacceptable. Walk ins were apparently being seated before us. Perhaps they do not respect open table reservations …. Didn’t finish with dinner until about 8:45. I don’t mind a leisurely dinner but that was way too slow. It was a random Tuesday night. Shouldn’t have gone like that. Disappointing.

Our first time to the Grand Marlin and it won't be our last! What a great place! Beautiful views from every side of the building! Friendly sweet service! And I will dream of the grouper piccata for a long time! Amazing! Even my kids were telling me how the chicken fingers and fries were their favorite chicken fingers and fries ever! Their vanilla bean honey mustard is also incredible and my youngest wanted to take some home with him. Ha! Thanks for everything we will definitely be back!

Our party of 8 ordered a variety of meals, all delicious! The Grouper Picatta is a definite solid choice! The Blue Angel chips and calamari were great starters with a drink. You never have a bad meal at The Grand Marlin and wonderful service, as well.
