Situated in the Red Rocks country 17 miles southwest of Denver on Hwy 285, The Fort is a true replica of Bent's Fort, (1833-1849), the first American fur trade post in Colorado. The Cheyenne, Arapahoe, Kiowa and Pawnee traded and intermarried at Bent's Old Fort, creating an economic and peaceful exchange of cultures in an otherwise violent West. The Fort building is on the National Registry of Historic Places, and celebrates the many cultures that traded at Bent's Old Fort. Our menu features "New Foods of the Old West" including the best cuts of buffalo, elk and quail, grilled to perfection. There are vegetarian options inspired by American Indian recipes including Corn Beans and Squash, known as the Three Sacred Sisters. The wine list is awarded the Wine Spectator each year, and the nine dining rooms, with intimate seating, has a 350 seat capacity, with real adobe "beehive "fireplaces that burn wood in the winter and fall months. Romantic. Amazing views of the Valley and Mountains!

A wonderful place with a very interesting menu. Service was great and food was prepared perfectly. Only negative is the cost. Expect to spend a lot…. Was it worth it? Probably for a special occasion but certainly wouldn’t be a regular restaurant for me

The Fort is upscale, and yet cozy. You can wear your favorite dress, or just dress up a pair of jeans. The tables are set so that you feel you can have an intimate conversation, you can even sit by a fire place if you want extra warmth this time of year. The wait staff is seasoned, never making you feel like you need to rush your decisions, or your visit. Eating at the Fort, as we have often, is always a special outting, always memorable. The food, start to finish, is prepared as you like it. You are welcome to add to or take away from your main course choice. I like to add a fried egg and chiles to my steak. The pickled ginger/ diced jicama salad, the bread basket with homemade pumpkin muffins and the many unique desserts keep you fully engaged the entire meal. The Fort is a Colorado Treasure.

We had a fine time for our date night, but it was nothing to write home about. The Fort had long been on my list of restaurants to visit--for their steak--but sadly, that aspect of the experience was somewhat disappointing. The service was excellent and accommodating, and everything else about the evening was quite pleasant. (Although, it was surprisingly cold inside--perhaps it didn't have great insulation from the sub-zero temperatures outside!) The NY strip steak was a bit tough. My date's steak was super chewy and gristly...probably only about 8 oz of his 14-oz steak were edible. Frankly, we found ourselves commenting that making our own steak at home would have been superior. So, to make up for the disappointment, the next night, we made our own steak at home, which was far, far more delicious and with a better texture (to say nothing of being significantly less expensive). We might visit again, but certainly not for those cuts of steak.

Went here for date night. The service and ambiance was great. Asked for private spot and while we were in a separate room the tables were so close together that you could hear every tables convo. The food was average and very overpriced. Probably won’t go back but good to check the box of visiting.

I took my best friend here for the first time and the Fort did not disappoint! Everyone was so welcoming, the food came out in such a timely manner and everything tasted amazing! We were sat next to one of the fireplaces and the ambience was beautiful! The owner even passed through to tell us about the artwork hanging in the room. I highly recommend the Fort to anyone I can. It is a wonderful dining experience. Perfect for holidays, special occasions or just because.

Very cool place. Big courtyard and great views. The food was different for sure. We are from Arkansas so just different tastes I guess. The ranch was very sharp and tastes a bit like horseradish. The bread was good and the pumpkin muffins were great! We got the game plate. All good food. Our bill was over $300 not sure it’s worth that. But service was great. We checked eating Elk and Buffalo off the list now so that was cool. Not likely to return again. But a good one time stop.
