Richard, Beth and Team are delighted to welcome you their charming, 18th Century Pub, The Dumb Post Inn, a picturesque village pub situated in the village of Bremhill, with good links to the stunning City of Bath.

Conveniently situated between Calne and Chippenham, with beautiful views over the nearby Bowood estate, The Dumb Post is an award winning, traditional country gastropub, offering quality cask ales and exceptional home cooked food using locally sourced ingredients.

Family owned since 2009, but only managed by the family since 2019, Richard stepped away from his career as an aircraft engineer, to protect this much loved pub and to ensure that The Dumb Post could run to its potential.

Richard and Beth both grew up in Bremhill and are driven by a passion for the area as well as this historic, family owned pub. They take enormous pride in offering the best local produce available, including the family farm for their supply of lamb and beef.

First time to the Dumb Post. Certainly won’t be the last!! What a fab pub! The ambience, the food, the decor and the staff made for a wonderful experience. Don’t even think about it…just check it out. Wonderful Sunday Roast. Very good value and huge portions too. Love the fact you could have all 4 meats if you wanted too. Top notch. Even the Latte was super creamy and lovely. Absolute pleasure and can’t wait to return. Thank you for a lovely meal x

Very lovely lunch with friends. Lovely pie and swapped the mash for chips which were heavenly! Really delicious home made pie. Amazing nutmeg ice cream to go with the vanilla and cardamom custard tart. Reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere and will go again! Do book - it gets busy!!

We were in the area and booked for what was A fantastic Sunday roast- staff lovely & accommodating with our early The quality of local ingredients & great cooking made for what was top notch Sunday lunch, the sides of creamed leeks & parmesan were a perfect addition. If it wasn't 75miles from home, we’d go every week.

Overall it was lovely. Restaurant was a little chilly so could have done with the plates being warmer, but would definitely recommend and return.

Lovely experience at the pub. Cath was amazing and super super friendly. Only complaint would be to have the fire/heating on as it was a little chilly

We’d been looking forward to our booking for weeks. I stopped eating meat 4 years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer and finally was ready to have steak. Sadly this wasn’t available on the minimal Boxing Day menu. This was told to us as they had a small menu so they could finish fast and shut early. Not sure how a steak is slower to cook than a burger? From the moment we entered the hint given by the waitress was we couldn’t leave fast enough! She didn’t ask what I wanted with my burger, I interjected. When we asked for sauce it looked on her face as an inconvenience . With plenty of food on our plates she asked if we were finished. She suddenly became polite and apologetic when it became time to pay. Conveniently in time for a tip that wasn’t received! The meal we had was mediocre. A gluten free bun which seemed it had been frozen, defrosted in a microwave and grilled, making it chewy and nasty! The chips were dry as sand! An overall disappointment- very sad!

Had a good time. Location excellent. Table a bit small & stuck away for the group to get full ambiance; food & real ale options also a bit limited (compared to last year). Food had was enjoyable to all.
