My husband and I went to The Commodore for New Year’s Eve. We’re always skeptical about going out on NYE, but this was well worth it. The whole experience was so special. Food and service were both outstanding even on such a busy night. The lobster tail and steak were fantastic. And we were blown away by the dessert- we’re normally not big dessert people but wow! The gooey cake was incredible. Maybe the best part of the meal. We’ll definitely be back!

I didn't realize that there would be a set menu for New Year's Eve. I was looking forward to the lobster thermador. Meal was delicious but the meringue in the dessert was spongy. It was a humid day so perhaps that was the trouble.

The Commodore restaurant is wonderfully appointed. Despite our reservation, we were unable to order drinks at the bar, which was full at 4:45pm, and we were shuttled upstairs to a voluminous, empty event space with minimal seating against the walls, and a few standing tables, like any event space. The next patron couple to arrive in the space joked loudly about how strange it was. Despite a reservation made weeks in advance, our party of four was seated at a table for four in front of a server station and the kitchen door. All of the large booths in the room, that would accommodate four people, were all occupied by two-person parties. Our primary server was well-schooled, but uncomfortable with presentation. All functions were performed satisfactorily, but our server offered no eye contact, and appeared visibly uncomfortable throughout. The first course and the main course were very nice. The desert had a too-hard crust that was very difficult to consume with the single spoon supplied with the course. The holiday decor, interior design and 'branding' were excellent, and were my favorite aspect of the experience. Given the price of the dinner and drinks, I would consider this experience to be average for the money, as it was overall an uneven experience.

Second time at commodore was a miss. I ordered the Dover Sole and it was overcooked. They did much better on my family’s steaks/ chops, however all the mushrooms were rubbery and tasteless. There was a very long wait for dessert which would not have been a huge deal if anyone would have stopped by the table to ask if we wanted an additional beverage etc. They did comp part of the meal but money was not really the issue and the amount comped was not even close to how short the service and food fell. I understand it was New Year’s Eve and they were very busy but when you spend over $600 for a meal you expect it to be to a certain level. We will try it again not on a holiday because we have had a previous positive experience, but I can not recommend if you want your evening to be flawless.

My husband’s Wiener schnitzel was the winner!!! The Crab Louie outstanding and the scallop appetizer divine! Sticky pudding dessert won hands down. Wish the fireplace was on. Ambiance was lovely, service was great!
