   We went for a Mother’s Day dinner. It was just lovely here. So friendly and the service was wonderful. They were very busy but did a wonderful job. The food was tasty including the old fashioned chips that I couldn’t get enough off. Will come again.

   Arriving at the Clissold Arms, my family and I(group of 4 with a pre booked table and meal) had to wait for nearly 10 minutes to be seated while customers turning up after us were seated immediately. At every stage of our meal, we faced extremely long waiting times. From being given menus (which didn't make sense as we pre booked and pre paid for our meals) to receiving our meals took so long that staff came to us and apologised saying there was a delay in the kitchen. This would have been acceptable if families (the exact same size as ours) didn't arrive after us, get seated right next to us, and then receive their meals while we were getting excuses. And yes, I said "families" plural. We were sat in an empty area and by the time we were served, the area was filled with families already eating. Nearly two hours later we were still waiting for the dessert where at least three other families had been served their entire meals and had left. We had to remind staff on two separate occasions that we were still waiting. At the two and half hour mark we left without dessert. We were out of the restaurant before they even realised we got up. Though overshadowed by the appalling service, it's also worth noting that the floors are uneven, making the tables unstable. We won't be returning.

   The booking was made in advance so the venue were fully aware my mother had a walker frame and was not very mobile. We were put in a room with two high steps going down into the seating area, which was incredibly difficult for her. We had also let Clissold know well in advance exactly what our order was. I do have sympathy for the member of staff who was left alone to deal with an entire room of people on a busy Mother’s Day, but find the gaps between courses and overall length of time to serve the food unacceptable. We constantly had to chase our food and there was such a gap between the first course and second that none of us were particularly hungry anymore by the time it arrived. All in all a bad experience (although the roast was nice and the portions generous - when they finally came)

   Service was very good. Food delicious and hot. Ambience a bit low key, quiet but then it was mid week lunch. I had hoped for a cocktail as a special birthday treat but none available.

   We made a special trip to the Clissold Arms on our visit from the US, specifically for the Kinks history. When we got there, the host would not allow us to eat lunch in the Kinks Room, even though there were just a few men playing backgammon and eating in there. Plus it was nice and warm in there. Instead they sat us at a chilly table by the kitchen. He let us go in and take pictures of the Kinks memorabilia, but overall it felt rude and inhospitable. There’s a vibe that the current owners have no interest in the Kinks history there. The Greek food there is pretty good though.

   The food was absolutely fantastic, there is a wide variety dishes, we went for the Cypriot style mezze which did not disappoint in Flavour, freshness, quality of ingredients and quantity. It wasn’t the cheapest mezze out of an establishment like this but well worth it 100%. Would we go back again? In a heart beat. This is normally a chilled out laidback kind of place, with ample free parking on the venue’s premises.

   We booked quite late on for my Mums 80th birthday meal. They were really helpful and phoned us to discuss the arrangements and offered us the Shed as a private dining room. It was perfect. The kids loved having their own private area to play games and run around and my Mum loved the lack of noise from other diners. It was a nice room with a good heater. The food was very nice - we shared a Greek Meze which was delicious and then had the amazing Kleftiko with incredibly succulent meat. The kids were delighted with their menus and desserts. Mainly though thank you to the staff / owners who really looked after us and made it a special day for my Mum. Thanks so much.

    We love the restaurant. Service is great and food is amazing. Best Greek restaurant in the area.
