   We ran late for our booking and the restaurant was very helpful and obliging. Service was a little slow to start, but our starters were very nice and worth waiting for. My celeriac main course was lovely, but the portion quite small; my husband enjoyed his vegan roast onion risotto and my guests the sea food stew (although the quality of the prawns let it down a little). Our server was pleasant, but lacked experience and could not advise on dishes as she had not sampled them - a bit of training would go a long way to enhance the quality of service and the overall experience. I will be returning.

   Arrived at the location on time and the table was not ready for us, took 20 minutes after having to go to find someone before we could order our food aswell as having to go to the bar ourselves for drinks. The starter was fairly good after waiting 30 minutes. However, we then had to wait another hour before or main course which was not great, cold and soggy is the best explanation. If I could describe the ‘sirloin’ it would be like chewing on a tyre. Maybe an off day, but for the price you would expect better.

   Where to start! We were told our table number but not where it was so had wait again and ask someone. Staff clearly not bothered, service poor. Menu choice poor. Food - fish batter was greasy, pie filling looked like baby food and potatoes luke warm. No one came to check if the meal was ok. When paying we were eventually asked and no response given when I said we’d had better. Staff are clearly not trained in hospitality. For the money you pay here you expect better.

   Lovely food, but must have been having staff shortages, we were given a set of free drinks for our wait and that was great, we were pre warned when seated that they had delays. But it did take 2.5 hours for 2’course and we felt a bit forgotten about in a separate room on our own.

   I think the waitresses and chef will be expecting some reviews especially this one today I invited my dad on a Boxing Day meal today but we were all disappointed as explained by the waitress 1. The chef didn’t turn up for work yesterday and today leaving only 1 chef ??? 2. Starters - got to say prawn cocktail was the worst we’ve had - very poorly made, no butter had to ask, white chunky bread 3. Main course the specials board beef cheek, waited nearly 1 hour to arrive this is when waitress explained situation. This only came with one veg Brocoli 4. No knife and forks had to ask again 5. I noticed other tables of should I say fried easy foods getting serviced earlier even tho they arrived later than us ! Free 2 drinks and 1 ice cream given complimentary I would rather had a phone call explaining that the chef had not turned in for work than having a mediocre meal costing £100 3 adults 1 child Which I could have made alternative arrangements rather than disappoint my dad on his rare occasion I totally understand staff is the hardest to control but prior notice would be advisable in this case The blonde haired waitress was so sorry but the other girls seem to be in training and lacked efficiency/effectiveness on the ball

   There was a problem in the kitchen because of staff shortage so front of house were managing the orders going into the kitchen so as not to stress out the chef. What came out of the kitchen was excellent so well done all in keeping everything moving.

    Really lovely meal, great surroundings, lovely atmosphere, friendly attentive staff, would thoroughly recommend a visit.
