Welcome to the Black Bull.
Tucked away in rural Lancashire, between cloud topped hills, green fields, rolling pastures, and lots of cows... sits The Black Bull Inn.
Nestled in the picturesque village of Old Langho, our stone building has been here since the 1500s. Steeped in history it has it's own warm welcome to travellers from far and wide.
Our menu is fresh, local and has a nice balance of those "pub classics" but brought up to date in modern and inventive ways.
Dog friendly in the bar area or garden, and plenty of cosy seating available in front of our roaring fires, in The Library, or in our gorgeous, beamed, renovated Fire Barn.

Fabulous bar and restaurant. Beautifully decorated. Staff were attentive and looked after us very well. Menu had lots of choice and food was well presented and very tasty. I am coeliac and was very well catered for. I even had desert which is not the norm and it was tremendous. Definitely worth a visit.

Fabulous food but not made to feel welcome or valued as customers. Much friendlier a couple of years ago.

Food and ambience fabulous. Could have done with another staff member waiting on as it got rather busy … Valentines Day and increased customers could have been predicted. Wonderful experience nonetheless. But £13.50 for a glass of wine! 😱

First time at the Black Bull. At first look, you might think the prices were a little high for gastropub food. Fear not, when the food arrives you realise the quality of the food is on another level. Had a steak and ale pot pie and if its not the best pie I've ever eaten its definitely in the top 3. My Mother had the chicken supreme which was presented beautifully and apparently was excellent. The pub itself is lovely, lighting prefect, service exceptional. There was a fine dining event on later in the evening and was set up in the dining room which is also very tastefully done. With the masterchef winning chef in the kitchen I expected it to be good but it exceeded my expectations.

Fantastic lovely pub. Manager was welcoming and very smartly dressed he was lovely. Loved the wooden menu holders, nice to go into a place that you can tell the owners care about spending money on the venue maintaining it to a high standard. Would definitely return The food was exceptionally good

Lovely pub for drinking. Came for a meal next night. Had crispy pork belly starter which, whilst delicious, was not crispy. Other starter of spicy battered halloumi was also delicious. We had braised lamb and seafood tagliatelle mains. Hubby loved lamb with its accompanying sides and also ordered onion rings. My tagliatelle was sitting in a puddle of oil and was under seasoned. I only ate half of it. Staff and service were excellent. If we were ever in the area again we’d visit the bar but not sure about the restaurant.

After pre-booking for Sunday lunch, we arrived a little early but had to wait over 30 minutes to get a drink, either at the bar or our table. The recommended wine was a good choice, but it was served way too cold, and we weren’t given the chance to taste it. We had to warm it by the radiator and tried to get a drink from the bar while we waited. The bar staff were unhelpful, to be honest. The food was tasty and plentiful, but the beef was underwhelming. The crackers on the cheese board weren’t the freshest, and the sticky toffee pudding was unexpectedly crunchy. For the price, I expected more, I think there are better options in the area.
