About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
The Ahwahnee Dining Room is currently serving breakfast and dinner in buffet style service featuring many classic favorites like eggs benedict and a full selection of breakfast favorites. At dinner, enjoy a carving station featuring our famous Prime Rib and more. If you experience difficulty making a reservation through Open Table, please call us directly at (209) 372-1490 so we may assist you.

The Ahwahnee is near completion of a seismic retrofit renovation project in partnership with the National Park Service to preserve this iconic hotel. During the last phase of the project (May - August), the impacted areas will be isolated to the West Terrace and surrounding areas near the Dining Room. This work will result in some obstructed views, and we expect construction noise between 10AM–4PM, Monday–Friday. We have done our best to mitigate any negative guest experiences, though we recognize it may cause inconveniences and conditions. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Yes it's expensive and it's not the greatest food you'll ever eat, but you can't find a more beautiful dining room, and if you're lucky, Tonatiuh will be at the piano and then you get to hear some everything from Chopin to Elton John played by a superstar!

Overpriced and underwhelming. They even blew the desserts. Sorry Awahnee, your reputation allows you to overcharge for a buffet that basically was worse than. Home Town Buffet. Save your money and go anywhere else inn the valley. Better yet make your own.

Terrible! So disappointed . We were there for breakfast. Due to construction they were only serving a buffet that was ok. However it was so cold in the dining room we never took our coats off. The plates at the buffet were ice cold, so by the time you got to your table you food was so cold was inedible. While the hotel is beautiful, the experience was awful On the plus side the staff was nice.

WOW. What an embarrassment. Food👎 Service👎 Location👍That pretty much sums it up. If your renovations make the dining experience this bad don’t. I can give this bad review because I have had many good experiences in the past. My parents 50 wedding anniversary is just one of them. My honeymoon is another. Get it right for $700 a night.

Extensive renovations to the kitchen has reduced the food to a good buffet and the view outside has been impaired. The service and elegance is still amazing. Still worth a visit especially since the price for breakfast was reasonable for the many options including lox. The chorizo gravy for the biscuits was very good and spicy. Our waiter was fantastic including providing interesting info about the hotel.

Understandably, you don’t go to Yosemite for the food. But that’s no excuse for the sub-par dining experience delivered at the beautiful and historic Ahwahnee Hotel. Weirdly amateurish service and an average dinner buffet for the princely sum of $63 aren’t a disaster, but the stunning setting — and Yosemite visitors with few alternatives — calls for better.
