AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Ahwahnee Hotel offers a unique dining experience amidst Yosemite's stunning backdrop. Despite ongoing renovations and a buffet-only menu, guests praise the "spectacular dining room" and attentive staff. The prime rib is a standout, and the ambiance remains charming. Ideal for those seeking a bucket-list experience in a historic setting.

We really enjoyed our experience dining at the Ahwahnee Hotel Dining Room. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was also very lovely with the piano playing beautifully in the background. I think my ONLY negative comment is that the food and coffee were not nice and hot, which is important to probably only me, but overall I think the experience was worth every penny.

The food was a little disappointing. Almost all of the buffet food was cold. The soup was cold and the bread was dry. The desserts were dry and stale.

We enjoyed our buffet meal with so many choices of sides, seafood and meat dishes. Of course, there was dessert too. It was a grand experience for a birthday celebration!

Because of construction at the Ahwahnee, the dinner service is BUFFET only. We did not think the food was up to par for the price. Dessert selections were poor. The prime rib was good, but that's about all. The rest of the offerings were mediocre. The construction also blocked the view in the dining room. We were prepared for this because the company sent ten plus emails and texts warning us of the construction and blocked views. But still... the price of the buffet should have reflected the diminished experience and low quality.

Although the Ahwahnee Hotel kitchen is going through a major renovation the food was excellent. It was buffet dining which is not the norm for them but the food was great. Apparently they do not adhere to the dress code that was communicated. (I e. slacks and dress shirt for men.Dress and/or dress pants and blouse for women.) People were wearing jeans, hiking shoes, t-shirts, and parka jackets. While I am all for casual, it does change your dining experience.

It was wonderful to be back in Ahwanhee Dining Room! We were seated promptly for our 5 pm reservation at a table close to the pianist and buffet. Our wait staff warmly greeted our group of two couples and explained the buffet style dining, offered to open the bottle of wine we brought (there is a $36 corkage fee), brought our other beverages, delicious tomato basil soup and rolls. He and his assistant promptly removed plates, glasses and silverware after use. They kept our glasses filled and regularly asked what we needed. Following the meal and coffee (Peet’s), they brought two decorated cupcakes on a plate with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate! The food in the buffet was delicious and plentiful. I enjoyed the Ahwahnee seasonal salad and the Caesar salad along with the hummus and fresh vegetables. For the main portion of the meal, I ate small servings of the prawns, salmon, prime rib, couscous, macaroni & cheese and broccolini. Mary’s chicken was always served. For dessert, I selected petite servings of pumpkin mousse/pudding, double chocolate brownie, coconut “bar” and a lemon bar. We were welcome to go back for more of everything, which made the $63 tab seem quite reasonable. In addition to the spectacular atmosphere of the Dining Room, the pianist was amazing! He played with such passion and love for his music. Although he played a variety of music, he added his own personality to them which made them so memorable, especially “Canon in D”, which my husband requested for me. We’ve stayed in Yosemite Valley for 35 years to celebrate our December anniversary and this year’s Ahwahnee Dining Room experience was our favorite!
