Terroni Adelaide, formerly the York County Courthouse, is a multi-level heritage structure built in 1852. Just inside the doors is the Enoteca with its towering columns, a great spot for cocktails. Beyond is the main dining room, with a sunlit atrium, fireplaces on each end and private rooms all serviced by an open kitchen where our chefs prepare traditional Italian fare. In summer, the secret garden patio opens for al fresco dining in the heart of the city.

Head down to the Cantina Wine Cellar where you will see the original courthouse cells now used to store our Italian wine. The second floor houses the grand Sala da Pranzo and Bar delle Carceri, named after the cells below. Il Covo degli Artisti, our third-floor space is a cosy lounge once home to The Arts and Letters Club where Canadian landscape painters “The Group of Seven” ate and drank in 1909.

    This location has a nice vibe being located in an old courthouse. We were seated next to the front door which got chilly whenever the door opens. The apps were delicious - we had the calamari and the funghi salad. We got the black truffle pasta which was okay, but the pasta was a bit too al dente and the flavours were a bit under seasoned despite the truffle.

    Had a nice long lunch and my Granddaughter and I consider this “our spot” when we meet for lunch. Ben was a very good waiter and seemed to know instinctively when to appear.

    Food was fresh and tasty. Noise was too loud, felt we were rushed in and out. No ambiance as no atmosphere. Tables are way too close……had to shout at each other to be heard. Do not go if you want a romantic vibe. Fast paced and feel business is based on volume even though food is good. We were seated and finished in 55 minutes.

    We were 3 seniors who came for 5 pm, on a Sunday.with a reservation, after the theatre. We were taken down into the basement room which should have been notified when making reservation, I think. Service was efficient and personable but somewhat hectic. Food was basic, a bit overpriced for portion size and underwhelming. Have had much better experience coming previous times. Getting too loud and too trendy, unfortunately.
