We abandoned the buffet after the first course. Was cold and unappealing. A La carte was better. Service good. There are better options. Won’t be returning.

Now that’s what I call a fine dining experience. Starting from warm welcome and comfortable sitting makes everything perfect. The food here is good and dal makhani is fab!

Good place for an Indian fine dining experience, the food and drinks are plated very well and the ambiance is great, the drinks are well done (and they don’t skimp on the liquor), but the food lacks behind. We got overcooked prawn and okra and so the food seemed little pricy for the quality and quantity. Overall a good place and a must try but would be hard to recommend at the price point with the number of Indian restaurants within a stones throw for anything other than the ambience.

First they let us reserve the dinner for 6 people at 9:15 pm . Upon arrival the server kept rushing us to order all at once . Which wasn’t a pleasant experience. He kept saying kitchen is closing over and over . In that case they shouldn’t allow late reservation since they aren’t capable of taking good care of customers . Then they charged us for desserts which were ordered to celebrate two birthdays . Dessert didn’t come but the check revealed and ruined the surprise . Had to ask three different people to make sure deserts will be there to celebrate but no one bothered ! This was my second time here . But a poor experience like this makes me not recommend this place to anyone .

Went for the weekend lunch buffet. Food taste left a lot to be desired. The dum biriyani was a joke. The malai paneer was all rubbery - felt like old food. Chaat items and desserts were decent. But for the price they are charging it better be first class. This was far from it.

They were out of many things we ordered! Wine was bad! Seems like bottle must have been open for a while! I ordered Pina Colada, it was just pineapple juice. Appetizer was terrible. Paneer item in main course tasted like it was prepared a while ago, not fresh and too sweet. Tandoori Roti that I ordered, I couldn’t even chew it! Not worth it! Wouldn’t recommend!

This is a special place. For Indian cuisine I think it has few competitors in the Bay Area. The authenticity of the ingredients, the blend of tradition and originality in the recipes, gives a complexity and richness to the flavors that is remarkable. And the presentation is stunning. Two appetizers that reflect these qualities are Dahi Batata Puri, a semolina shell filled with a garbanzo potato masala, curd and chutney, and Avocado Jahlmuri, a dish that incorporates puffed rice and multiple other textures. The 4 of us were so smitten with these flavors we almost couldn't resist reordering both and focusing on appetizers. But we were glad we continued to order, two vegetarian entrees and two chicken entrees, all superb. And the various naans were wonderful accompaniements. The black carrot pudding was a good finish. And the cocktails and mocktails were artistic and photo worthy. You leave Taj Mahal with joy. Comfortable, relaxed ambience, and the owner is a gem. Don't miss this experience.
