We were put upstairs into some makeshift dining area and after 30 minutes of waiting or even getting water, we were served by a man who goes by “Black Jesus” or Dee I guess. At first, it seemed like he would make the night better. He took our orders and eventually another server came up with our crab cakes and began setting them at someone else’s table while we were flagging him down to let him know that wasn’t for them. At this point he had placed 2 of the crab cakes down and the other guests were eating their salads over these plates, so as he realized this was the wrong table, he began to pick up the plates and bring them over to our table. Which we refused those plates, as they’ve just been eaten over. So those got turned back to the kitchen and eventually our server came back and asked about the crab cakes and he went to go figure that out and got them. But then he literally NEVER came back to serve us! After this point, we were borrowing favors from other servers to get ice or even water! We spoke to managers multiple times to try and improve the situation. Then at one point, our check was brought to us, without even asking if we wanted dessert. We’ve never had an experience like this, at any STK. And that server was absolutely horrible, the way he offloaded us and never even communicated. Oh yeah, and there was an actual rice grain stuck in one of our forks, that was for our cake. And it took over an hour to get my seat wiped down, which was sticky and I had already sat on. The manager tried to “make it right” after being called on twice, but overall this was a horrible experience (also for my sisters’ birthday) and I don’t see myself ever going back to the meatpacking location. I don’t feel like our concerns were being taken seriously during our experience. I hope steps are really taken to improve customer experience. Also keeping in mind, the upstairs customers’ money is just as good as the customer’s on the first floor.
