   Myself and my boyfriend had a booking this morning at 9:45am in Sophie's for breakfast. We had dinner here last night and throughly enjoyed our experience as-well as the great food. We were staying in The Dean for our anniversary so decide to try out breakfast as the menu had some very delicious food choices. When booking the table there was an option to select a “special occasion” so I chose celebrating anniversary and asked if something could be brought down to our table. Upon arrival we were seated but never asked if we had a booking so I knew straight away the anniversary token was going to be missed. We were given menus and seated and told water would be brought down to the table. It was now 10:15 and still no sign of the water or anyone coming to take our food order. What we did notice was people around us coming in after us and when seated asked if they would like tea or coffee, we also seen people come in after us receive their food order yet we were still waiting to order. Staff walked past our table numerous times despite us still having out menus in front of us they didn’t take our order. I called a staff member down to ask if we could place our order and she replied “I will in a few minutes” Eventually at 1:30 we place order, to be told there was no pancakes. It was a full hour after we came into Sophies before we received our food and never received any tap water for the table. Upon paying we didn’t receive much of an apology about the service. I am definitely not one to complain about the hospitality industry as I myself have worked in it for 7 years and understand things can go wrong but the lack of acknowledgement from staff was not there today and we were left very disappointed with our visit to Sophies in Galway.

   I went to Sophies for a Christmas night out with my friend. The place looked perfect for a Christmas meet-up. Our pizzas were delicious as were our cocktails. We had enough space around us to be able to speak to each other without feeling overheard. The place was busy but noise wasn't overwhelming. The best part was the young woman who was serving us. She was really friendly, accommodating, and had a good sense of humour. She made the experience so much better. I am sorry that I didn't take her name to thank her here. In a city that's overwhelming at Christmas we had a lovely night at Sophies that was relaxing and enjoyable. Well done to all involved!

   Unfortunately the food wasn’t up to standard last night and I communicated it with the team. They were understanding and dealt with the situation well. I usually love Sophie’s and I also understand things aren’t always perfect.

   We are working our way through Galway brunch spots and unfortunately Sophie’s was very poor. The staff seemed nice and the decor is too. The food was awful- it arrived cold, chips undercooked, and poached eggs cooked solid. One of our party sent their food back but we all should have really. Certainly expensive for the quality of food. The menu looks nice but food is better anywhere else unfortunately.

   We had a table of 10 with a beautiful view. The service was very attentive and nice!!

   We arrived later and there was no problem, we’re seated beside window with fantastic view of the city, staff were excellent, food was delicious and desert came with a chocolate congrats on desert plate which was a lovely touch! Highly recommend

   The no cake policy was a really nasty experience when we were there to celebrate a birthday. My mother came to surprise me, whom I never get to see, and she was met with hostility when she brought a very small cake to mark the occasion. Waiters were rude and we were all quite upset. My mother was spoken to poorly. A very disappointing experience. Especially when it was one that should been a special one.

   Hi Sorcha, Thanks for the feedback. We do reiterate this in our T & C policy when making a booking with us. It is a traceability factor more so as the food isn't prepared on site- We do however, offer a complimentary dessert plate as goodwill gesture for a special celebration with us.
