   We enjoyed our Valentine’s dinner, but I was not able to give it the highest ratings. Solare offered a creative four course menu with choices suitable for a range of food interest. They had increased the number of tables that they seated, and, as a result, the service was rather disorganized. Courses were brought out before the prior course had finished, some tables received their courses out of sequence. Because they were catering for such a large group it was clear that some of the food, in particular the fish, have been held under a heat lamp, so was somewhat dried out by the time we received it. We’ve been to this restaurant numerous times in the past, and I usually consider it to be five star. I feel if they had kept to their standard number of tables they would have been able to provide their usual excellent service.

   One of our very favorite places for Italian, Solari, did not disappoint. We ate from the fixed price Valentines Day menu, Choices were adequate, the food excellent. As this was a late reservation, we were seated outside- the patio heaters, kept us comfortable, The only noise of note was every so often, a plane would-be taking off from nearby Lindberg field

   We celebrated Valentines Day at one of our favorite restaurants in San Diego. Had a great time! Food was absolutely delicious and service was outstanding! Best risotto in San Diego, butternut squash soup is a must have! Excellent menu and wine selection! Thank you for making our date so perfect!

   I decided to try Solare for my birthday dinner. The most exceptional part of our dinner was the service, we were greeted warmly from the hostess, our waiter and all staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We also received a complementary tiramisu with a candle which was appreciated and made the night special. We shared a pizza and a Caesar salad, and entrees were linguine with clams and catch of the day. We each got a cocktail. Food and cocktails were nothing to write home about in comparison to other local restaurants, especially for the price, but portions were well sized. The ambiance was just OK, we were in a private corner. A perk was easy parking across from the restaurant.

    Dinner was delicious. It’s also a miracle that the service was so extraordinary even though Solare was having a wine tasting and pairing event. Kudos to the staff, the chef, and the overall orderliness of the entire evening despite a full house of restaurant patrons and wine lovers. The chicken marsala was delicious !
