I had the Dine Out experience for our anniversary, and honestly, it wasn’t worth it. The server wasn’t very friendly, and the starter was disappointing. We had the pea soup, which was really bad, and the sweet carrot dish, which I do not recommend. The steak was good, but the sides were just okay. We love doing Dine out as we can see how the restaurant is and see if we want to come back for more but I was disappointed

The service was very slow. I took too long to get out entrees from the time we ordered. Not overly impressed. I would pick Capital Grille, Ruth's Chris, Eddie V's any day over this.

Server was not up to your usual standards. She never smiled and wasn't personable at all. She rarely checked back with us other people did. She was very slow. We were there for lunch about 2 hours. She's not up to your usual standards. I had the lunch sirloin which was very fatty. I mentioned it to one of the staff and was told that sirloin is fatty. I've been to S&W many times and have not had steak this fatty before. Also, the menu stated that it came with mashed potatoes (again I've had it many times before) and this came with baked. When I told the server she said it comes with baked potatoes. I told her it shows mashed potatoes on the menu. She must have spoken to someone because a manager came out with a bowl of mashed potatoes. I have been to S&W many times, a couple of times with my family, and this was not up to your usual standards. The main issue was the server.

Our experience at S & W is based on the Dine Out Boston reservation we made. Overall the food and presentation were very good, although I expected the NY sirloin to be a little better. It was done perfectly medium rare though. They have done beautiful renovations; the evening atmosphere with dim lighting is very nice; we enjoyed having a booth compared to being at a table that appear to be quite close to each other. With all that said, unfortunately we had a server who barely greeted us, and who did not make an effort to make us feel welcome. She did not explain the 2 menus, given to us by the very friendly host; we could not find the wine list, but eventually found the digital folder containing lists of fine wines. We had to look for her for more water and were only asked once if we were satisfied with our meal. All the other waitstaff looked friendly and seemed very accommodating to their guests. In my opinion, this server needs more training in how to greet her guests and how to be more attentive, with a smile.

A nice option for Dine Out Boston but otherwise not reasonable. Prices very high.

Very disappointed with our experience. We tried the Restaurant Week menu along with appetizers and wine, but nothing met fine steakhouse standards. The split soup, carrot salad, and potatoes with onions were all served cold and didn’t taste fresh. The steak tartare with bone marrow—one of my favorite appetizers—was overpowered by capers and mustard, masking what I assume was a good cut of meat. Ordered my steak medium-rare, but it came out a solid medium. The cheesecake was hard and had a fridge-like taste, so I could barely eat a bite—and trust me, I was still hungry after rejecting most of the dishes. Unfortunately, this visit was a letdown. On a positive note: wine and asparagus were excellent!

We did the dine around for 6. The food was good and the service was great, but a little disappointed in the portion size for the table. There were 6 adults with one maybe medium size potion of the potato hash browns which was not enough so we asked for another serving which they brought to us.They were very tasty! When they brought the rolls it was only enough for 5 people so we had to ask for more. They were very accommodating but should not have had to ask for more!

We enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. Our waitress was attentive, as well as other staff members. This and the delicious food made for an extremely pleasant time. We look forward to returning to Smith & Wollensky. To all…thank you very much!
