   Overall it was good, food was great, service was good. The only reason I want to write this review is because, unfortunately, I felt that the service could use a step up, especially because I felt it took a step back. I dined at Smash a couple years back, didn't even make a reservation, but the waiter asked us if we were there for any occasion, and we told him that we were celebrating our daughters admission into a program that was difficult to enroll. The waiter was happy for us, and we got a free dessert, it wasn't even one dessert per person, just one piece for the table, and to be frank, it wasnt even the best dessert we had, but it was still a very nice gesture, and made our dining experience that much better. This of course resulted in us eating at Smash occasionally for the brunch or dinner or whatever. This time tough, we made a reservation, and on the reservation I even selected the occasion was for celebration, but we had 3 different people come by to ask how our food was and none asked why we were dining out nor asked what we were celebrating. I guess it was just assumed that we were there for New years eve? Either way, I didn't mention this during our dining because I didn't want to make it seem like we were there just for free food or anything. But if I was to compare the experience (there to celebrate something) to last time I was here to celebrate something, this was certainly a step down. Otherwise though, if you're looking for a chill place with good food, Smash is absolutely the best to be.

   Charles, while new, was fabulous. Genevieve opened our wine, was fantastic. From the Manager to the receptionist , everyone is 1st class. We will now be regulars!

   Excellent food and ambience. Servers brought main course at the same time as the appetizers which was very unusual, and made us feel rushed.

   I had a great time for my birthday brunch. The food was great, service was a great and they gave me a sweet treat and a coupon to end. Completely worth it. I would highly recommend.

   We had dinner at Smash in Markham last night and the food was delicious. We shared fish tacos to start. I had the house salad with grilled chicken breast which is my “go to” main dish there. My boyfriend had jerk chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. I tasted the chicken and it couldn’t have been any more moist…very tasty. We shared the banana toffee cake for dessert ant it truly is outstanding. Service was excellent.

    We had fish and chips. The portions were ample. We shared the dessert. The whole meal was excellent. The staff were very attentive and the ambience was pleasant I would definitely recommend Smash. Merry Christmas everyone
